The morning light shined through the cave entrance. Zombies and Skeletons burned away while creepers and spiders waited in the dark for their prey. Jesse woke up, but she was still drowsy because she had trouble falling asleep after being attacked by the spider. Jesse looked around the room at everyone else still half-asleep. Matthew, however, was nowhere to be seen. The sheets and covers on his bed were messed up and pushed to the side, meaning that he had gotten up. Jesse decided to get up too. She crawled out of bed and staggered through the cave until she came to the entrance. Matthew was standing there, looking out at the world. Everything that was once there was gone. There were large craters in the ground, and the village was destroyed. The rain had stopped, but there were dark clouds in the distance.

"That's where Herobrine is," said Matthew, pointing at the clouds. Jesse looked harder and saw a small figure floating in the sky with a ring of light surrounding him. Everywhere around him was dark and rainy.

"He's moving on to destroy more of the world," Matthew said dully. He looked disappointed, mostly in himself. Jesse couldn't help but feel sorry for him.

"Woah..." said Axel from behind Jesse, "Everything's gone!"

"Herobrine must have done this," Jesse said, "We have to do something!"

"But what will we do?" asked Axel.

"We just need to get a hold of the amulet," said Jesse.

Jesse, Axel, and Matthew walked back into the bedroom to wake the others. When they arrived, Olivia and Petra were already waking up. Lukas was sound asleep.

"He's soaking wet," said Petra motioning toward Lukas. He was completely still, but covered in sweat.

"I don't think he slept well," Petra continued, "I heard him moaning in his sleep last night. Unless that was a zombie."

"Is he sick?" asked Olivia.

"He could be," said Petra. She walked over and felt his forehead.

"We don't have the time for this!" said Matthew impatiently, "Herobrine is loose in the world, slowly making it his own. Trust me, you do NOT want to see what happens when Herobrine is in control."

"But, what can we do about it?" asked Olivia, "as long as he has that amulet, he has power! How are we support to get it when he can just use it to track where we are? There's no way we can get it from him!"

Guilt overcame Jesse. If she had never given it up, this could have all been avoided.

"Oh, Jesse," Olivia's voice softened, "I didn't mean it like that. This isn't your fault." Jesse just realized that tears were crawling down the fronts of her cheeks and her eyes were red. Despite what Olivia and Petra had said to her, it still felt like she caused all of this.

"Hey, guys," said Axel, "I think Lukas is waking up!"

Lukas slowly opened his eyes and sat up in bed.

"Lukas," said Olivia, "are you awake?"

"Yes," he said simply. An awkward silence filled the room.

"Well," said Matthew briskly, "We should get going!" Jesse couldn't help but notice Herobrine always on Matthew's mind. His lack of empathy bothered Jesse. She wasn't sure how much she liked Matthew.

"Where?" asked Jesse, "Herobrine is too dangerous to come close to. He knocked Petra and me out, and he suspended Lukas in mid-air!" Matthew just pushed past Jesse and headed out of the cave.

"Won't you answer me?" asked Jesse in annoyance.

"Look," said Matthew, "this thing is too important to mope around and worry about getting killed. All we should worry about now is Herobrine! He's destroying the world!"

"My team is important too!" Jesse sputtered, "These are my closest friends! I can't just let them get sick or killed! We have to do this together."

"Fine," said Matthew, "but don't blame me if Herobrine destroys everything because you were so concerned about everyone."

Matthew left the cave.

"What now?" Axel asked.

"I don't know," responded Jesse, "we should make sure Lukas is okay." Jesse and Axel headed to the back of the cave together.

"He's not sick," said Petra, "I think he just had a bad dream."

"Hey," said Olivia, "where'd Matthew go?"

"It turns out he only cares about killing Herobrine rather than the safety of our team. We kind of got into an argument and he left us."

Petra angrily muttered something under her breath that Jesse probably didn't want to hear. Petra may come off as tough, but she has a soft spot for her friends.

"Should we head out now?" asked Olivia.

"Sure," Jesse responded, "let's go." Jesse led everyone out of the cave and into the devastated terrain.
