Running away was a bad idea.
Not only was I wearing a pair of stilettos that could kill me with one false move, but Keegan's house was an absolute maze. I turned left and found myself in a completely different corridor from where I came.
To top it off, I wasn't able to ditch blond cutie in spite of my efforts.
"Why are you following me?!" I snapped at him from behind me.
He grinned and put his hands in the pockets of his jeans, "Because I find you interesting. Also, I'm pretty sure that if you continue in that direction, there's about a sixty-percent chance of you getting lost and never being able to find your way out."
I glared at him even though I knew he was right. Mustering what was left of my dignity I about-faced and stalked past him into the opposite direction. "Whatever."
"You're still going the wrong way!" he called after me.
I stopped in my tracks and squeezed my eyes shut. So much for dignity. I sighed. For a minute I debated between asking the stranger I had just humiliated myself in front of to help me or trying to find my own way out.
The rational side of me won. Slowly, I turned to him and sighed again.
"Can you show me where the right way is then?" I mumbled.
He grinned cockily, "I'm sorry what was that?"
The jerk was pretending he hadn't heard! I imagined shooting lasers and melting him with my eyes.
"Hey, hey!" he raised his hands in the air, "Glaring at me won't help. Besides, is that how you should be treating the guy you have a crush on?"
"Like hell I would have a crush on you, Jesse McCartney!" I said frustrated, "Don't let it get to your head! I got the wrong guy!"
He laughed, "Did you just call me Jesse McCartney?"
"Did I stutter?" I shot back.
"My name's Carter Hollins, and you are?"
"Why would I tell yo...." I stopped.
I stared closely at the boy in front of me, blond-haired with green-gold eyes. He was wearing the black shirt which I had mistaken for Dominics'. A confident aura surrounded him and his figure screamed athlete.
"You wouldn't be.... No, you couldn't be THAT Carter Hollins right?" I said disbelievingly, "Captain of Kimsley High's basketball team?"
He looked surprised, "Uhh, yeah."
My eyes widen at his answer. "Roman says that Kimsley's defense this year is pushing them higher up the ranks! It'll probably be our school versus yours for the trophy. Though he admits that your defense is almost unbeatable, he says our players can still give you guys a run for your money." I rambled excited that I had met another excellent pointguard.
He stared at me for a good two minutes before I got self-conscious and asked, "What are you looking at?"
"Uh, nothing." He blinked, "I'm just a bit surprised you know all this."
"Why?"
"Well girls like you usually don't." He answered truthfully.
"Girls like me?" I narrowed my eyes at the comment.
"Yeah. I mean you're pretty hot. Most girls like that don't know a thing about sports and are just attracted to my captain status. I assume you go to Rivercrest?" he eyed me.
"Uh, yeah." I said a bit embarrased that he called me hot.
"What's your name?" he asked softly.
