Speed: you know we have to kill him right?

My eyes grew wide. I'm in too deep with these people, and now they want to kill Michael.

Me: What?! No! Why???

Speed: Baby, baby listen

He grabbedmy shoulders, and looked into my eyes.

Speed: he's not gonna stop until he gets you back...I mean, i understand why...

He trailed off and observed my body from head to toe while scratching his prickly chin. He made me uncomfortable. I plopped down on the bed, mentally kicking my own ass. If it wasn't for Jason, I wouldn't even be in this situation.

Speed reached in his back pocket and pulled out a tiny, navy blue velvet box. He tossed it on the bed. He nodded his head at it, gesturing for me to pick it up.

Speed: a gift from our nonna, she wants you to wear it during the wedding.

I opened the box and was mesmerized by a ruby hair clip in the shape of an open rose. My mouth hung open, as little red reflections appeared on my fingertips as i reached out to touch it.

Me: it's gorgeous...your grandmother really wants me to wear this?

Speed: Yep. Every new bride in the family has, and you're no exception...

I closed the box and slid it snugly into my underwear drawer. The room was silent.

Me: can't we just run him out of town?

Speed shook his head.

Speed: he might come back and try something, we're not leaving any loose ends.

I felt terrible. This was all my fault, but I couldn't help that I fell in love with a man in the very mob that my boyfriend's family was rivals with. But even still, I don't want Michael to die for my mistake.

Speed left the room and I looked at the framed picture of his brother, Jason, on my TV stand. Was it possible to love two people at the same time.
