Changed.

Chapter 6

We all do things that later in life we will be like whoa what the hell was I thinking! This moment right now is one of those moments.

Just an hour ago I was on a date with Brooks and now I'm asking no scratch that, telling Cody to kiss me. It feels right though to be with Cody.

His mouth leaned in to mine. Millimetres away then boom! My phone went off and I jumped back. The caller ID said 'daddy' so I had to take it.

"Hello," I said. Cody stood up and went to the bathroom. "Hey pumpkin," my dad said, "I was just calling to check on you!"

My dad had been away on a work thing for the past week. Since he changed positions to warrants, he was gone sometimes.

"I'm fine," I said. "I'll be home this weekend," he said, "so stay out of trouble and no boys." I laughed nervously. "You know me dad. No boys allowed here," I said. "Right well I love you," he said. "I love you too," I said. Then he hung up.

My dad was right. I didn't need to be around boys right now. Well just Cody. He made me get all flustered and made things very tempting. I can't be friends with someone so tempting.

I stood up and walked to the door. When I went to open it Cody was already standing on the opposite side.

"We're are you going?" He asked. He place a hand across the doorway so I couldn't leave. "Move," I said. "What's gotten into you?" He asked. I looked down and bit the inside of my cheek. "Cody please," I said. Cody dropped his arm and let me pass. He mumbled something that was in audible as I passed him.

I went up my stairs to lay in my bad. Tommy and Alli took up most of it, only leaving a small space for me. I changed into a long shirt then curled up into bed.

I didn't sleep at all. All I kept thinking about was the boy living downstairs. Something inside me hoped that he was thinking of me too.

The next morning I woke up at about 10:57 after finally falling asleep around 5.

I got dressed into my usual shorts with tank that said good vibes on it. When I came downstairs everyone was in the kitchen. "Good morning," my mom said. "'Morning," I said.

I sat down at the table and went to grab the fruit loops. Only my hand touched Cosy's and I jerked it back fairly quickly. "Here," Cody said handing it to me. I took it without looking at him then poured my cereal into the bowl my mom handed me.

The front door opened and in came one of my favourite people. "Good morning y'all," Melanie said. "What up bro," I said with a mouth full of food. "Alan and Tiff wanted to hit up the town centre today," Melanie said, "wanna go?" I basically scarfed down my breakfast and ran out the door. Before I left I heard my mom saying something about school. Probably talking about open house on Friday.

When we arrived at the town centre Melanie and I were greeted by Alan and Tiff. Alan was your typical hipster care free guy. He had medium sized gauges that were sometimes covered by one of the many beanies he has. His dirty blonde hair was usually quiffed to a perfection. He wore cut off jeans and a black tank that had some surfing scene on it.

Tiff on the other hand looked like barbie. She had bleach blond hair that came to her butt. She had the perfect tan skin and the perfect body. She usually dressed like Melanie and I. Today she had her hair up in a bun with an army jacket that said 'I hate everyone.' I was very jealous of her combat boots.

"What's up lamoes," Alan said as we arrived. "Just chillin like a villain," I said. Alan said, "you're so dorky Punsky." I punched his arm a little as we walked up to Urban Outfitters.

"So what happened last night? Because you two didn't look like you changed attitudes towards each other," Melanie Said. I smiled at the thought of us almost kissing. "Well we almost kissed," I said. "Almost kissed?" Melanie asked. I laid my hand on a clothing rack then rested my head on it. "Well we were like 1 millimetre away from our mouthed touching when my dad called me," I said. I let out a sigh then walked up to a rack to find a shirt.

Melanie placed her hand on mine to stop me from doing what I was doing. "Girl you can't tell me that and then not tell me what happened after you hung up the phone," Melanie said. "I realised that I shouldn't be with Cody again so I changed my mind about him. I am allowed to change my mind," I said. I knew Melanie would object to me not not wanting to be with Cody.

"So you two are back to awkwardly living together?" Melanie asked. "Basically."

"Try some of this new stuff," Alan said handing Melanie something. Melanie took the rolled up paper in Alan's hand and took a huff. She held it in for a moment then released it laughing. "That's some good weed," Melanie said.

Melanie handed it to me and I took a hit too. Man does weed make you feel good. Even though I was always told not to ever so this, I still did. I liked the risk of getting caught by my parents.

I smoke for a while before letting it out . I laid back and closed my eyes. Then I felt someone sit next to me and shake me. I opened my eyes and laughed when I saw Alan. "You good Hun?" He asked me. "Man I'm straight as wood," I said laughing.

He handed me the same rolled up paper as before and I took another hit. I blew it out and turned my head to Alan. "Thanks," I said. "For wha?" He asked. "For your food I'm about to eat," I said getting up.

I walked into his kitchen but found no food. "Alan you're out of food," I yelled to him. "I know!" He yelled back. I grabbed my keys and walked to him. "I'm going home to eat," I said, "where's Melanie?" Alan took me to the back room where Melanie was with Tiff. "Lets go," I said to Melanie. "Ight," she said.

Have you ever driven while high? Let me tell you, it's hard! But luckily I made it home. Before I got all the way home I sprayed perfume on me and ate a lot of breath mints.

When we walked inside my mom was doing the dishes. "Kaitlynn I need to talk to you," she said. I say down at the kitchen table and hid my eyes behind my sunglasses. "Yes?" I asked. She wiped her hands off and looked at me. "Since Cody is going to be here for the week, he asked me if he could do something to keep him entertained," she said.

Oh god he didn't.

"So today he asked me to sign him up for public school."

He did.
