Chapter-6- The Phonecall

'Hello, hey Cam,' Daniel said picking up the phone. Daniel was in his dorm room, obviously, and after all that Angela-hugged-Cam controversy, Cam decided to ring up to his brother, Dan.

'Hey Daniel, I think I'm a fool, what do you think?,' Cam replied in a nervous voice.

'What do you mean? Yes, you surely are a fool for that matter, but how does that supposed to matter at around two o'clock in the night?,' Daniel asked, sounding fifty parts amused and fifty parts confused.

'OK, you wanna know what happened?,' Cam sounded grim, 'so here's what happened, Angela came to my room around fifteen minutes ago and I didn't know what she wanted, but she just sat on my bed and yeah she looked good I must admit, and I even said that to her, can you believe it?,' Cam spoke hurriedly, more or less, nervously.

'Oh boy please calm down, I don't get what you're trying to say,' Daniel replied, 'I mean, okay I got that Angela came to your room and all but it isn't a very big deal, is it? Would you please clarify what happened?'

'She hugged me.' and Cam's voice dropped.
'What!!??,' Daniel literally shrieked. He wanted to laugh, to burst out right there on the cell phone, but he knew it wouldn't get him anywhere, so he digested his amusement, and spoke in a rather serious tone, 'Oh what! really? But, what I don't see is, why are you so bothered about it?'

'Why am I bothered about it?,' Cam said exasperatedly, 'because I get to be the one who encouraged her to believe that we could be something together, because I didn't get to tell her not to hug me as that wasn't the right thing to do, because I knew she liked me, still I ended up saying "you look good", how could I be such a fool?'

Daniel felt sad, he'd never seen Cam so annoyed with himself, not from a very long time.

'Hey,' Daniel shrugged, 'calm down brother. It wasn't your fault. It's just that you got carried away, and it's not wrong. Maybe, she's the right girl for you. Why don't you give her a chance?'

'She can't be the right girl for me. It was only Lilith.. ' and then an awkward silence followed the words of Cam.

Cam's words pierced through his own heart. He felt gloomy, he felt broken.

Why did he need to bring it all up at such an awkward time? Actually, why did he need to bring it up at all?

She had gone, and he knew she wouldn't come, but still he surely hadn't gotten over it.Yes there was a time when Lilith was an inseparable part of him, when her name was always taken with Cam but that was centuries ago. That was before she left him. That was before he had to leave her.

Daniel felt the pain surging through Cam's heart, he wanted to relieve it, he wanted to hug his brother and tell him that what had happened had happened and he needed to move forward. But all of that wasn't easy at all.

'See,' Daniel said, 'there's no point in bringing up what cannot be changed. But what I don't get is, it was just a hug. Why are you so worried about it?'

Cam replied, 'It's not about the hug, Daniel, it's about her feelings and I've seen it in her eyes. She feels I like her, or she wants that to happen, and if this isn't true, she literally likes me.'

'Okay leave it. Just tell me, you like Angela?' Daniel asked.

'Yeah! I mean it's not like she's awesome or something but she's good and I don't hate her.'

'Well, I get it, so you don't want to break her heart and at the same time you want to tell her you don't feel anything for her right?,' Daniel asked.

'Yes, you're right.'

'So tomorrow, you'll clarify this to her face to face.'

'What the....!! Really Daniel? Is that your angelic solution?,' Cam snorted.

'If it isn't it, have you got any better?,' Daniel replied irritatingly.

'Umm.. Okay I get it. Alright. I'll do that.'

'Okay, so tomorrow, first thing to do, talk to Angela Worth.'

'Oh God! Her name sounds so dramatic. And as a matter of fact, yeah I'll shoot up to her,' Cam said determinedly.

Then, they hung up.
