After Joseph and his army had left chase had thrown a tantrum. He had controlled it so that his enemy wouldn’t see that a weakness was hit. Things were thrown into the air, across rooms and at people. The alpha had shifted into his wolf, shifted back, over and over again.

Jake, the beta, had to take over the situation. What he decided was for everyone that was already in the safety underground had to stay overnight. A lot of the males were not satisfied with having to be distanced away from their mate. They were all worked up and they needed to be calmed down.  All the wolves above ground had to sort out the place. Try to clean up, move the dead bodies, gather pack members that have been killed to prepare for the funeral and try to control their alpha.

Downstairs the doctors were trying to get Felicita’s attention. One doctor had grabbed her hand and said “Luna, if you hear me, if you are even in there, squeeze my hand. Just a little twitch at least.” Nothing had happened for about 8 minutes and they gave up. They all circled around the table on the side and missed the small twitch of her right hand.

Inside Felicita’s head she was screaming. 90% of her didn’t know why. But the remainder seemed determined to get control. It was hard to do since her chest hurt from losing chase. She thought of their short time together. She thought of the numerous times he had stood up for her and protected her from the bullies. She had always thought that all the name calling and pushes were what was going to destroy her. She would have never believed that the death of some boy, which she had only known for not even a month, was going to crush her to pieces.

A week had passed with chase being depressed and sulking around, and Felicita staring mindlessly at nothing.

The first day chase had thrown a tantrum about not being able to see her mate. Why? He thought it’s not like she can tell it’s me anyways. That had just made his heart clench. He had never felt so helpless. They didn’t even know what they were using, and what that had done to make her act like that.  He had stared at her through a one way window for about 2 hours straight. He kept his back stiff and tried to ignore the constant stab in his chest. He knew she was going to get better. The only negative about his optimism was that he believed it was going to happen at any moment. He stayed there, convinced that if he left then he’d miss her get better. He didn’t know what her getting better meant. He obviously wasn’t expecting her to just shake her head and snap out of it. But he still waited.

Felicita had made no improvement in her head. She still randomly laughed in her head but never outside. It was like she was in a coma. She could open her from time to time but she couldn’t really see anything. Just blurs of random shapes. It looks crystal clear at first but then slowly everything started to mush together, like it was slowly falling from her grasp. So she just sticks to keeping her eyes closed.

On day two chase had tried to get things together. The pack was out and about again. But they were all cautious and on guard. He had tried to double the territory patrol but it was hard. He had given charge to Jake. He was only to be involved in emergencies. He knew he wasn’t in shape to lead a pack. Not without a Luna.

Same as every the doctors got nothing from Felicita. Only a slight gasp, she arched her back, her eyes rolling back as she grasped onto the bed sheets. Then she lay back down eyes closed, breathing normally, as if nothing happened.

Day three was when Felicita could slightly hear the doctors. She couldn’t understand what they were saying but she could hear them. The effort to squeeze their hands was way too hard. The last time had drained her out. She was whining in her head but stayed completely still.

The alpha had nothing of progress. He was constantly moping around, forgetting simple things, and not interacting as much. It wasn’t good for the pack. To have your alpha being so useless while you were just under attack? It gave them no sense of security. Jake had been getting irritated with his best friend. Hardly eating and being forced to shower. The most of chase’s time was staring at a sleeping Felicita.

On the fourth day Felicita had a flash back of chase being killed. Every single detail. The cuts, the bullets, everything. She kept screaming out his name. Actually screaming. Her voice was weak because of the lack of use, but she still screamed and thrashed around. His name kept leaving her lips and she started to shake. The pain was fresh again. It wasn’t as if it went away but it had slowly faded. She was gasping for air and clawing at the sheets when she was engulfed with warmth. She felt tingles everywhere and she calmed down. She slowed her breathing down and lay back down. Her eyes closed and she focused on the warmth’s heart beat.

Holding her again was the best feeling for chase. She had been freaking out and the doctors reluctantly let him in. he had sat beside her and wrapped her up in his arms. She froze for a second, her eyes wide and glossy staring at the wall, then relaxed into him. He slowly sank her down into bed. He held onto her tight kissing her head and breathing in her scent. This had helped a lot and he felt a lot of stress lift off of him. It was a relief to hold his angel

The fifth day was when a knock on the alpha’s door made his head spin again. He had thought at first that it was the doctors coming to bring bad news about Felicita. It wasn’t though and he was glad. But when he looked down he stepped back in shock, His eyes wide and his mouth ajar.  In front of him was Felicita’s brothers. They were all dirty and they had wide empty eyes. He dropped to his knees and grabbed them. He slammed them into his chest and hugged them both. What have they done? The two boys sobbed onto is shoulder and gripped onto him tight. He knew Felicita would be relieved that her brothers were safe.

Felicita had no progress. The doctors had decided that if chase was by her side for a short period of time then she would find her way back to him. When he held her hand though, she screamed as if it was on fire. It hurt like it was though. She felt like her hand was being ripped apart. She wasn’t allowed to touch whoever it was.

The next two days went by the same. Except chase had taken control again because he was sort of stable again. The two boys wanted to see Felicita and were sort of scared after seeing her. They had their own room just down the hall from Felicita’s. Brendon and Thomas shared the room but didn’t feel safe in it. There were no toys. So chase told one of the omegas to go take them shopping and to buy whatever they wanted. They were quite content with that and so was he. No harm was done to them except they didn’t have enough to eat and they had some trust issues.

On the seventh day Felicita felt her brothers there with her. One on each hand and they grasped tightly. She could actually feel it and she felt nothing but joy. She couldn’t see them but she knew they were there.

And she couldn’t ask for more.
