Beautiful Like Water: Haruka Nanase x Reader

Saturday- Part 2

((I am so sorry about not updating this more often....anyways, I probably won't update at all Wednesday-Saturday since I'm going on a marching band trip to New York.))

I watch Haruka practice for about ten minutes. He's such a beautiful swimmer ((I sound like Rei oml)). I wish I could watch him for hours and hours, just doing what he loves.
Soon the race starts, and my eyes immediately move to Haruka, who has his swimming cap and goggles on, crouching in front of his lane in the pool. When the announcer says "GO!", he pushes off with his legs and swiftly dives into the water, going into his freestyle stroke. I smile and cheer on for him silently in my head when he finishes his first lap. Four more to go.
It's not even the full second lap yet, and he's already so far ahead of everyone else- Haruka's so fast!
Soon it's his last lap, while everyone else is still on their second or third. The moment he finishes, I jump out of my seat and start clapping and cheering for him. I'm not really aware of how loud I am, and Haruka looks up at me from in the pool. His eyes meet mine and I quiet down, returning to my normal shy state. I look at my feet and blush deeply, wishing I hadn't made a scene of myself like I did.
After the race has completely finished, people in the stands start to leave. I'd like to congratulate Haruka some more, but I'm a little embarrassed to.
I start to leave when I'm pulled aside by someone. I look up and see a boy with maroon hair tied into a small ponytail, and red eyes. I immediately feel uncomfortable.
"Hey. I saw you earlier talking with those weird guys Makoto and Haruka. I think you should stay away from them."
"H-huh...I-I don't even know you....." I'm so confused.
"I'm Rin Matsuoka. But what I'm saying," he takes ahold of my hand and clutches on tight to it, "is that I really like you. So you shouldn't hang around them." He leans in close to my ear. "I could really take care of you, y'know." His voice is low and his breath is harsh. He wraps his arm around my waist.
My heartbeat speeds up because I'm really scared.
"S-stop!!"
"Oh, come on. You know you like it." He leans in to kiss me and I slap his cheek.
"Get away from me!"
When he looks at me, his eyes don't show anger. Instead, it looks like he just wants more. "Ooh, you're feisty. I like that." He leans in again when I see a pair of ocean blue eyes out of my peripheral vision, and Rin is pulled back from me. I lose my balance a little and stumble backwards.
"Leave her alone." A soft voice interrupts everything.
I look up and see Haruka standing boldly in front of Rin, his face expressionless, but his voice is laced with anger. Rin just laughs.
"Why would I listen to you?"
"Because I'm her boyfriend."
My heart jumps out of my stomach. Did he really just say that??
"Oh, are you? Has wittle Haru finally found someone he loves more than water?"
I look at Haruka and his eyes show slight hurt. "Y-yeah, I have. So get away, because she isn't yours."
"Prove it. If you love her so much, kiss her."
I suddenly feel dizzy and my heart is about to explode. Haruka nods to Rin and turns to me. His eyes find mine and I try sending him the message no, but he must not get it.
He stands in front of me and takes my hands into his, which are really warm and soft. His face moves in close to mine, and I blush deeply when he touches his lips just barely to my forehead.
"No, you idiot. On the lips. Make it a real kiss."
Haruka looks down at me and I see blush form on his cheeks, although his face remains expressionless. He lets out a small sigh and leans into me. I feel his lips press to mine lightly, and they're really soft. His hair is really soft against my face too, and he very subtly squeezes my hand. What does that mean?
"Alright, alright. I believe you."
I barely hear Rin's voice over the pounding of my heart in my ears. I can't explain how I feel right now, it's so strange.
Haruka pulls away from me and looks back at Rin. "Good. Then leave. And don't ever get near her again."
"Yeah, yeah. Fine." Rin nonchalantly shrugs the whole situation off and leaves. Haruka turns his head away from me.
"....d-don't ever tell anyone about that...."
"O-okay..." I feel so awkward. I know he must too, though. He just freaking kissed me!
He doesn't say anything else and starts walking away. Without knowing, I run up to him and tug lightly on the back of his shirt. He turns to me and averts his ocean blue eyes to the floor, tilting his head down slightly so that his hair covers his face.
"W-wait....why'd you do that?"
He sighs. "R-Rin may have hurt you. I couldn't just watch him do that to you. I had to do something."
"W-well I-I...." I pause, trying not to blush. "Th-thank you....."
Haruka hums and leaves. I'm left staring at him as he walks away, my heart and my brain a total mess.
