I couldn't help but laugh when Amie tried to burrow deeper into my chest. I'd woken up ten minutes before when I heard someone stomping down the stairs. I assume whoever that was, was also the same person who had just slammed the door and caused Amie to stir. I looked down at her. She was slowly waking up but clearly was trying to fight it. I felt Amie freeze and knew she'd realized our positioning. I was never sure why she always seemed surprised when we woke like this since it had happened often enough over the years. Secretly, I'd always liked it. I loved it when she was soft and relaxed in my arms since it didn't happen often. More often than not, it seemed, she was trying to hit some part of my body or was mad at me for one reason or another.
Amie seemed to realize something and jumped out of bed like she'd had a shot of caffeine and began hurriedly getting dressed. She made me close my eyes for that part. Then she was out the door. I think that was the fastest I'd ever seen her wake up and get ready for anything. I shook my head, smiling in amusement at Amie's excitement. She would probably hit a wall later; Amie was definitely not a morning person.
I heard the door slam again as I reached the bottom of the stairs and walked into the kitchen to see a bemused Will with a bowl of half-eaten cereal in front of him. "What was that all about?" He asked as I made myself a bowl of cereal. "That was the most awake I've ever seen her before noon."
"She didn't know until last night that she was coming on tour with us apparently." I replied and sat down at the table across from him.
Will laughed and shook his head. "Oh, Amie. What are we going to do with her?"
I shook my head in mock disappointment. "I don't know mate, I don't know. What time do we have to be at the studio today?"
Will finished his mouthful before answering. "Twelve. The door slam that probably woke you two up was your sister."
"Ah. Christian?"
"Still in bed." Will stood up and dumped his empty dishes in the sink.
A quick shower and an hour and a half later Will, Christian, and I pulled up to the studio where we were rehearsing for our fast-approaching tour. Because we lived in a smaller town outside of London, it took around an hour to get to the studio. Luckily, the warehouse where we'd been rehearsing the full show was just outside of our town. Dylan was running through vocal exercises when we walked in. While she finished that, the rest of us set up and double-checked the tuning on our instruments. The rest of the day flew by just as quickly as the last two weeks had as we continued to make tiny tweaks to specific song arrangements. I was so happy when our manager, James, declared us ready two days later. I loved what we did and I loved playing my guitar but that didn't stop my fingers from hurting by the time we finished each day. Because of our rehearsal schedule and because we spent the day before we left hurriedly packing, I didn't see Amie again until we picked her up Thursday morning so I may have jumped on her in excitement.
Luckily, she was still mostly asleep so she didn't get mad at me for it. While she went to the bathroom, the four of us carried her bags down to the bus. Even though it was still early, I felt wide awake. I tried not to let it show but I was thrilled that my best friend would be accompanying us on our European tour. This was bound to be the best tour yet.
