Chapter 3 (or, how Satan makes Blaze suicidal)

The cave walls were just what one would expect when they go too far into a cave: the walls are too moist but the ground is too dry. The unhealthy balance between the two made for a confusing environment that made Blaze even more perplexed.

The exchange of subtle stares and obvious blushes was only halted by a cough coming from the corner (if there were corners in Hell) of the cavern. Kaipo was the first to look away, staring immediately at the source of the noise with hard eyes and an expressionless face. Blaze guessed that that was the look he gave to everyone but him. Or, at least he wished that Kaipo didn't call any other reaped soul "sweetheart" or "honey." Blaze wouldn't be as special.

"Don't look at me like that, Reaper-Boy." A deep, sensual voice sounded from under a black hood. A man wearing a black cloak and a tall man with shaggy brown hair stood in the corner, assessing the two boys curiously. "I can kill your little soul right here, right now if you don't cut it out."

The cloaked man and his brown haired fellow started walking slowly towards Blaze, as if assessing his worth and deciding just how he would fit in the resting place for the damned. The brown haired man seemed to drilled holes into Blaze's skull with a harsh browned eyed stare. He was conventionally attractive, with wide set shoulder and a good build, but there was just something about him that seemed off to Blaze.

The silence that weighed down the conversation seemed to drag on for centuries, surrounding the for men with a thick fog that made it impossible to speak. The cloaked man and the brown haired man stopped a few feet away from Blaze and Kaipo.

Kaipo narrowed his eyes and pulled a possessive arm around Blaze, as if a stick of flesh would block him from a knife or whatever the cloaked man had planned to kill Blaze with. Warmth immediately spread around where Kaipo had put his hand on Blaze's shoulder, which was definitely confusing to him as he was surely still in love with Sawyer. That's why he moved his shoulder away from Kaipo, the man that he had named, the man that had taken him away from Sawyer, that man that made him blush more times than he could count.

But Kaipo was not on the same page. "You can do whatever you want to him, Lucifer. He doesn't mean anything to me." Kaipo gave Blaze a hard eyed stare, not unlike the one he gave to Satan moments ago. "What's the matter?"

The cloaked man staring at me is Lucifer? Something told Blaze that it would take a really big deal to get Lucifer to come outside into the barrier between the gates of Hell and the U. S. H.  Hopefully Blaze wasn't the reason for him to make the journey. He didn't want to get noticed on the first day. Please, just let me go to Heaven.

Kaipo pulled him aside suddenly, gripping his forearm tightly and dragging him towards the opposite corner. Blaze seemed to be dragged everywhere that day. When they had reached that corner, Kaipo spun Blaze around so that their faces were only mere inches apart.

"Sweetheart, you can't wish to go to Heaven in the presence of the Devil. That would hurt his feelings." Kaipo looked sternly into Blaze's eyes. "Plus, we wouldn't want you to go to Heaven, would we? That would mean we wouldn't see each other, wouldn't it?"

Kaipo's eyes turned a deep green color and his pupils started to dilate, clearly indicating that something different and new was happening. Blaze was mildly terrified whilst watching the entire scene unfold in front of him. Green streams of light traveled from Kaipo's eyes to Blaze's, slowly, like water flowing through a stream without a specific destination.

But these streams of green light had a very specific destination: Blaze's eyes. When one stream had attached itself to Blaze's eye, he was jolted with what seemed like an electric current. His vision went a deep green and he couldn't control his body. His mind was racing like a wildfire: what's happening? Why would Kaipo do this? Is he trying to kill me? Am I going to die again?

Calm down, Blaze, Kaipo seemed to order from inside of Blaze's head. You know you want to.

Now that Blaze thought about it, he did want to calm down. The voice inside his head was totally right. Why would he ever think that Blaze was right? Ridiculous.

That's right, honey, Kaipo ordered once more. You that Heaven is not the place for you. Hell is much, much more alluring than a castle in the sky. You wouldn't want to abandon me, would you? You just named me, after all.

Everything that Kaipo was saying was making total sense. Why did he even want to go to Heaven in the first place? Blaze was pretty sure that he couldn't remember, yet he was positive that he didn't want to remember, either.

Kaipo lifted his hand to cup Blaze's face and turned to face the two other intruders in the room. The green streams flowing from his eyes reversed and flowed back into his head and his eyes returned to their blood red color.  "He's ready to be judged."
