The Secret I Never Told You

Chapter 9

                                                                   ~Alex~

Benny ran towards me, not noticing Dakota yet.

"Al!" Ben exclaimed.  Dakota looked surprised at how much Benny had grown.  Benny was now seven years old and in the second grade.  I smiled at Benny and patted his head.  He hugged me and finally  noticed Dakota.  Benny gasped and looked scared.  He shook in fear and recoiled from Dakota.  I was confused at Benjamin's actions.  Dakota smiled at Ben and waved at him.

"Hi again, Bruno." Dakota greeted Ben.

"It's Benjamin." spat Benny in reply.  I gasped.  Benny has never spat at somebody, that I can remember.  Dakota looked shocked at Benny's sudden outburst.  We started to walk back to my house and Benny was staying as far away from Dakota as possible.  When we got home Allyssa and Eric were opening the door.  Allyssa turned around and smiled at me, but her smile faded once she saw Dakota.  

"What the heck are you doing here?" she screamed and Eric turned around quickly.  He saw Dakota and pushed Ally, Benny, and I behind him.  Then Benny remembered something and nudged Eric.  Eric cleared his throat and stood beside Ally.

"Hello Dakota, nice to see you again." Eric said through gritted teeth.  Dakota smiled and nodded in greeting.

"Let's go in shall we?" I asked and opened the door.  Ally gasped when she saw Jax playing with Laurence.  

"Aw hell nah!" she screamed. Luckily I covered Laurence's ears and Eric covered Benny's ears.

"Get this fucking asshole out of my fucking house right now!" She continued. 

"Babe calm down." Eric said while nodding his head towards me.  I was confused as heck.  First, Benny was acting weird and now Ally and Eric.  Jax stood up and scurried to the door.  Eric gently glared at Ally and pushed me towards my bedroom.  Benny and Laurence followed me inside and Ally slammed the door in my face when I was about to ask what was happening.  

"We need to talk." I heard her say.  You see, Allyssa isn't the quietest speaker ever. She talks very loud without trying. I sat on my bed and watched TV with the boys.

Dakota and I sat down on one of  the couches and Eric and Allyssa sat opposite of us.

"I don't want you two to hurt her again so I suggest you leave us alone." Allyssa snapped at us. Eric grabbed her hands in his and calmed her down.  

"I just want my mate back Allyssa, I want to make things right." I said. Eric eyed me and sighed.

"I think we should tell them." Eric said.  I immediatly thought about that guy that was Alex earlier and growled. Dakota crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes. 

"What!No!" Allyssa shouted. Dakota growled.

"Tell us what?" He asked. Eric gave Allyssa a stern look and Allyssa did the same. This went on for about thirty seconds until Allyssa sighed and nodded.

"Alex got ran over by a car." Eric said bluntly. I panicked when I heard this and so did Dakota.

"What?" We both shouted. Allyssa shushed us while looking at Alex's door.

"Please tell us that she wasn't pregnant when this happened." I begged. Eric smiled and shook his head.

"No, this happened when Laurence was one-year-old. She just finished dropping Benny and Laurence off at their babysitter's and was walking to her job. The driver wasn't looking and sadly, didn't stop in time. " Allyssa explained.

"Who the hell was the driver?" Dakota and I shouted. Allyssa glared at us.

"We don't know. The driver hit and ran." Eric said and clenched his fist like Dakota and I. My wolf and I growled at the thought of somebody hurting our mate.

"Somehow she made it out with a few scratches and injuries, nothing major though. However she did have-" Allyssa trailed off. 

"She did have what?" I asked. Allyssa and Eric sighed. They looked into each other's eyes and nodded.

"She got amnesia. Not really though, she only forgot a few memories." Eric finished for Allyssa. 

"Mostly just the bad things that you did to her. Like Jax rejecting her and Dakota verbally abusing her." Allyssa said.

"We decided not to remind her of those things and luckily she never did remember." Eric elaborated.

"So that's why she talked to us so easily!" Dakota said. 

"Yes now we suggest that you leave." Eric stood up and started pushing us out the door.

"Wait!" shouted and angelic voice, "At least let me say bye." 

Alex ran to me and hugged me. My wolf purred at this and I hugged her back. Laurence hugged my legs and smiled up at me.

"Daddy!" He exclaimed.

"Yes son?" I asked.

"Don't leave!" Laurence frowned.

"I'll see you tomorrow buddy." I hugged him,"If your mommy let's me."

"Of course I will!You're his father and my mate!" Alex giggled.  I'm glad she doesn't rememeber me rejecting her. It will make things a whole lot easier.
