You sighed and impatiently tapped your foot waiting for the class to end. Multiple times Yoichi had advised that you stop, but you had simply ignored his requests scribbling down an apology each time.
In a way, your mindset was close to Yuu's. Neither you or him wanted to sit through this class, you both just wanted your weapons and kill off all of those terrible bloodsuckers. Impatience: It runs in the family.
"Ok, everyone! Today I'll return your written exam results and call it a day!" Your head perked up and your foot stopped tapping once she said 'Call it a day' because being honest, you just wanted today to be over.
Three papers were shoved in front of you and you looked up to see your teacher, Sayuri Hanayori you remembered, smiling at you. She was a very kind soul and she honestly was a good teacher. You thought that she would be great with kids if it were to ever happen.
Aside from those thoughts, you looked over your test results, grateful that you had gotten high marks all around. 96, 94, and 98, you were pretty set. You compared some of your answers with Yoichi, seeing some of the ones you got wrong and some of his own. All was going well until yells and laughter filled the entire room.
"Hey, give them back!"
"Oh wow! This is that thing! This is that score only a superhuman can get!"
Turning to the commotion, you weren't surprised to see Yuichiro and Shinoa once again quarreling.
"Shut up and give it back!"
"Oh my, I can't believe it!"
Your purple haired friend quickly ran up and down the aisles of desks, laughing and giggling about something on that test.
"Give them back!" Yuu finally caught the girl, but no papers were in her possession. Instead, they were left on a desk where multiple boys gathered and gawked at the unbelievable score: a zero.
You giggled to yourself a bit watching the entire situation unfold. You had secretly liked the antics between Shinoa and Yuu and found it adorable....Slightly shipping it. It was really cute! (Calm down MikaYuu shippers, I do not ship it)
When the couple finally quieted down, you turned back to your own papers deciding against showing Yuu. He was already in a bad mood, so it was logical not to boast.
After watching more fighting arise and Kimizuki getting involved, you and Yoichi decided to join your friends in their amusing argument.
"You're being childish."
"Who's being childish?!"
"Now, now, you two. Yuu is that...Well, since he was imprisoned in the vampire city since childhood his Latin and English are better than his Japanese language." Yoichi's soft spoken voice suddenly cut in through the tough argument, drawing not only your attention but the other two arguing.
"Oh...Y-Yeah, right..." You giggled quietly to yourself. Yoichi just saved Yuu but Yuu didn't even know that information!
"If I may bud in..." You turned your attention to the pink haired male "I know much Latin and English too, yet I managed to score well."
"Oh really?" Now it was Yuu speaking. "Let me see your dumb scores then!"
"Sure." And so, the papers on the intellectuals desk were turned over to reveal three perfect scores.
"W-Wha?!" Everyone around Kimizuki's desk was a bit surprised, but the boy wasn't finished flaunting yet.
"I'm assuming that your dear sister got the infamous zero as well? Great minds think alike after all." Wanting to immediately wipe the smirk off his face, you shoved...more like punched his face, with your papers not even caring whether he found your scores good or not.
"He seems a bit stupefied at the moment, what'd you get (Y/N)?"
"She..." Kimizuki turned over the pages to reveal not perfect, but very high scores.
"Ahah! Eat crap you telephone pole!" The voice of your brother rang quite loudly from behind you but following soon after, arms snaked around your waist catching you in a tight embrace. "I knew you'd do great!"
Hugging back, you let out a soft giggle. It was a triumphant moment for you.
But it didn't last that long, as a tired and grumpy Guren burst into the room.
"Oi, what's happening in here? You all interrupted my nap!" He yelled angrily. Jeez, he's always in such a sour mood...
"I apologize Guren, they just got back their-"
"I don't care, I need sleep..." He sighed, frustrated, wielding a weapon which looked quite lethal. And maybe illegal.
Cursed Gear
"G-Guren, they aren't rea-"
"Yes, they are." And with that, he struck the ground with his cursed gear. At first, nothing affected you. But after mere moments, you noticed that most of the people around you had passed out, but around you, Kimizuki and Yuu were struggling with this unknown force, while Yoichi clutched a desk, fighting to stay awake.
After a few more seconds of endurance, Guren lifted his gear from the ground, stopping whatever he had inflicted on us, innocent children.
"You four are coming with me. Now."
Hearing no protests, and honestly too afraid to protest the four of you followed Guren. Where to? Not a clue.
"Somehow, you all endured my weapon. Congratulations, now you're all getting cursed gear."
Your heart leaped with joy. Finally, after all of these stupid tests and "activities", you will get the cursed gear that you've waited at least a month or so for.
Ahead of you, the two elders were mumbling. To your right, Yoichi had his head hung low, a broken and defeated frown smudged his face. In an act to cheer up the boy, you wrapped an arm around his shoulders and squeezed, one of the most awkward forms of a hug.
"Wh-What is this for?" He chuckled out, a light blush dusting his cheeks.
You gave no response, just simply nuzzled his shoulder and made him smile the rest of the way down to an unknown place.
It was only when Guren opened the old, cracked wooden door that your eyes became alight with joy you've been waiting for since one fateful night.
In front of you, sat cursed gear unlike any other. Swords, nunchucks, a bow and arrow. It was one of the most glorious sights you have ever seen.
"Choose wisely. You either face it like the strong people you are, or die."
Great. Very reassuring Guren, very reassuring. Yuu and Kimizuki slowly walking towards weapons, and soon you found your beloved friend Yoichi walking towards a bow and arrow. You, however, found your feet moving you towards an awesome, epic, crossbow.
Yes, you've seen this weapon used before, but never before did you think you could wield the weapon yourself.
Slowly, it called you in. It was beckoning for you to just take it already. And you did. Or, you tried to.
Upon touching the weapon, you found yourself back in your old room, with Yuu and Mika in front of you. The weapon now gone.
"Ne (Y/N), what's wrong?"
You were astounded. You didn't know how to react, whether you should speak.
"Come on now, are you mad at me? Why don't you talk?"
You wanted to talk, to scream out his name, you wanted to cry it out more than anything else. But for some reason, you thought it was wrong to talk. As if speaking would be losing, to something.
Instead, you let a single tear slide down your cheek.
Because this was either real, or the demon really knew how to mess with you.
"Please (Y/N) talk to me...have I done something wrong?" Mika stepped closer. "Please. I want to hear my loved one's sweet voice."
You looked away, noticing Yuu staring off blankly. Red alrams immediately went off.
This isn't real at all.
"You're too persistent and stubborn for my liking." This time a deeper voice spoke through Mika, and you suddenly found yourself trapped between this freakish black monster, the demon.
"You think you're so special? I know what you're thinking, answer me already." Your body was shaken violently, and yet you refused to make a sound now. "Answer me!"
