A day with the new "Neighbors"

As soon as I got home I ran into the kitchen. After shoving my face full of some oreos, I tossed

down my bookbag kicked off my shoes, and made a beeline to my room.

I got changed into one of my favorite swimsuits (black with aqua blue stripes, pretty, and made for speed.) and quickly wrote a note to my mom explaining i was going to the pool with Lizzy and Gale. Praying that she would be able to read my scribbled handwriting. I grabbed a towel,  and my goggles and in my new record time (1:34) I was out the door.

As I made my way down the sidewalk Gale and Lizzy burst through the door. Lizzy started jumping up and down when she saw me... like I was  a mile a way,

instead of... like 7 feet.

Gale rolled his eyes and waved. I think I'm gonna like this kid. The three of us started to make our way to the pool.

"You ready to race?" Gale said with a toothy grin.

"Gale, I was BORN ready!" I said confidently.

"I'm gonna work on my diving." Lizzy declared proudly.

By then we were at the front gate of the pool. It was tall and white, it looked really freaky at nighttime.

I pushed aside the gate with ease and jumped right into the pool. The shock of the water was overwhelming, but nothing I can't handle.

I loved being underwater. Its so peaceful, to just let the waves rock you back and forth. Sitting at the bottom of the pool was one of my favorite past times. I let out some air so I could stay at the bottom and focused on letting my body go limp.

I didn't even hear Gale sneak up.

And before I knew it he had grabbed me by the waist and I was hurling through the air. I landed on the water with a smack.  When I came up gasping for air I heard both of them laughing.

Gale was too busy highfiving Lizzy to notice me swimming underneath the surface. I grabbed one of his feet and yanked it with all my might. His whole body fell backwards into the 4 FT deep side of the pool. After what seemed like an eternity he surfaced and muttered, "Touche.."

I gave him a smile of triumph. "You recovered enough to race?" I said tauntingly.

"I was BORN ready!" Gale said in a super high voice.

I gave him the stink eye. When we were at the starting line I said, "on three, Oneeeeeee... TwoThree!"

I kicked off and was speeding through the water. I let my swimmer instinct take over and soon I was at the other end. I came up confident im my winning.

I felt a poke on the top of my head and looked up. There was Gale, sitting on the edge tapping his watch.

I grinned "Your a worthy opponent..." Lizzy cried out from the high dive, "SARENNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!! watch!"

She jumped off gracefully formed her body into perfect form for a swan dive. She hit the water with hardly a sound. I screamed and cheered for her. That was much better than anything I could do at eight.

After a few games of marco polo it was  nearly 9:00. On the walk home Lizzy was blabbing on about how she wanted to do this everyday.

When I asked her about school and how things were there, if she went. She laughed and said she didnt go and was happy about it.

Gale and lizzy both gave me a quick hug and we went back to our own houses.

I didn't notice the boy standing in the shadows of my front yard. Or the evil smile on his face.

I should've, maybe than things would've ended up different....
