ANABELLE'S POV
Run, Alice! But I was too late. She turned around to face me, with a bewildered look before turning her attention back around, only to face her death. The masked man didn't hesitate to puncture the knife right into her head. Alice didn't even get to have a chance to scream for her life, he didn't let her. Her blood rushed out, seeming as if her body had given up, and finally raised up the white flag in surrender. The man didn't stop there. He suddenly jerked his knife out of Alice's head and repeatedly stabbed her until her body no longer looked human. Instead, it looked like a pile of bloody guts, something that could be seen in a supernatural movie. I watched in horror and screamed in a hoarse voice for him to stop, but the masked man couldn't hear me. It was as if I were drowning in a pool of my own words . . .
I woke up to the tone of my alarm clock in a cold sweat, my heart beating a mile per hour. I heaved a sigh of relief, realizing that it was only a nightmare. Another one, here to haunt me for as long as I live. I was never like the people whom forget what their dreams were about the second they wake up. I happen to remember every single detail, and can never seem to forget about it whatsoever. It's like it was implanted onto my brain, and the only way to get it off my mind is to lose my memory. Speaking of which, I replayed what had happened last night in my head, my eyebrows knitted in frustration. Without thinking, I grabbed a glass cup from my nightstand and smashed it onto the wooden floors. The sharp edges cut my legs, drawing a crimson liquid onto the surface of my skin. Luckily, my parents had already gone for work and didn't get to see this depressing scene. I gritted my teeth, realizing I never got to ask if Taehyung knew how Alice passed away, or if he had something to do with it. Motivation suddenly flowed throughout my body. I have to find Taehyung and get to the bottom of this. Before my conscience could kick in and tell me I'm being stupid, I cleaned myself up, brushed my teeth, got dressed, and began my way back to the forest.
Because I knew my reason for going back there today, it didn't take me as long to get to the destination. I retraced my steps to the old shack Taehyung was staying at and didn't bother to knock. After what he did to me, I felt the right to be just as rude back. He looked up from his laying position to see who would be visiting him before going back to sleep. I scoffed at his careless reaction before going up to his bed. I gripped a water bottle from the floor, uncapped it, and poured it over Taehyung's face. He stirred awake, finally looking me in the eye.
"I supposed you're back." He said in a raspy morning voice. Taehyung then got up from his bed, revealing his toned stomach. His hair was messy, but it looked insanely perfect on him. I stopped myself from looking, but he caught me. "Alice and I went to the gym every week. I picked up a few things from it." This snapped me back to reality, remembering again why I'm here in the first place.
I took a deep breath, and turned to Taehyung. "Did you do it?" I let out. I was scared to hear his response, but that didn't stop me from listening.
"If you're referring to Alice's death, no. I didn't." He responded in a small voice, before turning away, revealing his back muscles. I felt my insides twist in disbelief, when the shiny glare of a bloody knife hidden in a pile of clothes caught my attention. Without Taehyung looking, I snatched it from the mess and put it safely into the pocket of my jacket. I kept my eye on him, just in case he were to turn around. Maybe, I thought, this could help me get one step closer to finding out what happened to Alice.
"I'll be going now. Have a nice day, Taehyung." I said as my voice cracked at the sound of his name. I was just about to step outside of his home when a pair of muscular arms threw me into a wall. I fell onto broken glass, the blade slicing into my arms. Luckily, the knife inside my pocket didn't pierce into my stomach. I was going to sprint out of the shack when I saw Taehyung shut the door and covered the window with a blanket. I picked up a piece of glass and raised it up into a throwing position, ready to stab him if he stepped any closer to me. I felt like I was going to puke, although I didn't have any breakfast and skipped dinner the night before.
"You didn't think I was just going to let you go, after you proved to me you knew too much, now did you?" Taehyung said in a low voice, smirking.
That was when I realized, a demon isn't always red and has horns. He can be a fallen angel, beautiful but broken.
