ANABELLE'S POV

Taehyung had his back to me, as if not wanting to see the disappointment written all over my face. But here's where his mistake is - I'm nowhere near disappointed by him. In fact, I want revenge for what he did. Taehyung took what I loved, and it's only fair if he got a taste of his own blood. I decided it's time I played by his rules, no matter how cruel they were. Whoever that girl was, she never deserved such a horrible fate.

My eyes wandered around the tight room we were in, looking for what could help me in this case. Because our location was a mental institution, I figured I could find something useful. My gaze locked on a pistol in a messy corner. I looked back at Taehyung and began to inch my way towards it. After what seemed like forever, I finally had my hands on the gun. It felt familiar, but I couldn't think of when I had held the same weapon before. I then carefully held it behind my back and approached Taehyung. I felt like one of those creepy, possessed girls holding bloody knives in horror movies. I always closed my eyes whenever these types of scenes came, but for some reason, I knew I looked exactly like one. He still had a blank expression and was facing the scratched wall. I guess he sensed my close presence, because he slowly spun around.

This is my chance, I thought. Before Taehyung could notice the pistol from behind my back, I quickly wrapped my arms around him. I slowly raised the gun to his head, but lowered it after feeling Taehyung's tight hold. I heard small sniffles, which shortly turned into sobs. My shirt was absorbing all his tears, and I felt his body shaking against mine. My mind retraced to the days when I was constantly balling my eyes out and didn't have anyone to ease the burning pain. Every morning, I would see a hollow shell of the people my parents used to be. It wasn't fair for any of us to be in so much grief when the monster was continuing to live his life. I felt my teeth clench at this thought and regained my lost confidence. How is it fair that he gets to strip away people's happiness whenever he wants?

With my face buried in Taehyung's collarbone, I raised the gun again. My breathing was growing heavy and I knew that if I didn't act soon, I would drop it. By then, he would've found out about my plan and probably set a new record of killing two people in the same area. I had the pistol locked at the back of his head, but my fingers wouldn't budge. I tried to tell myself it was for the better and that I could save many lives, but that did nothing.

Remembering the lecture my biology teacher last gave, I located the softest tissue of Taehyung's arm. I knew I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing I was the reason for someone's death, so I was just going to slow him down. I figured that he would be stuck in the hospital for a while before being able to return home. Hopefully, the police would grow suspicious of his various homes within the last month and come to the conclusion that he's a murderer. With one hand on his arm and one gripping the handle, I pulled the trigger. I didn't see the bullet enter Taehyung's arm, but I sure felt it when he suddenly jerked forward, grabbing onto me for balance. I took a step back, letting him fall onto the institute's floors. Before leaving the building, I crouched down to meet his eye level. Taehyung's eyes were growing weary, indicating he was going to lose consciousness within a few minutes.

"It's about time someone put a stop to you." I whispered into his ear, leaving him in a critical state.
