Lexi's pov.
Aimlessly I walked through the city. I couldn't believe it. After so much effort. My phone rang and I picked up without looking who it was. Did you get the job? Well, good morning to you too, Katherine. Cut the crap and tell me that you got the job! Well, I don't know. What do you mean, you don't know? He said he wanted me, but he wished I had more experience. He also said I would have to do an assignment and based on that he is going to hire me or not. Well I think you're going to be great, I have to go now but. I will talk to you soon. Yeah, I talk to you soon. As I was putting my phone away I bumped into someone. I sighted I'm sorry I don't know what I have lately. I heard a chuckle. A very familiar chuckle. I looked up and saw Frank smiling. Hey little one, how was the interview. I smiled sadly. To be honest, I don't know. His smile faded. What do you mean? Long story, but how about you. What are you doing in the city all by yourself? A smile appeared on his face again. Well I wasn't alone at first, but Jessica left me because something had come up at her work and then I spotted you. What does she do? Work I mean? She works at law firm called Jackson's law. I frowned. Frank studied me for a minute, are you free this afternoon? I started to get his idea. I am indeed; do you want to grab some coffee? His smile grew wider. I was thinking the same idea. We started walking together until we spotted a small restaurant. It was cosy and a waitress led us to a table close to the window. We ordered coffee and I ordered a small salad. So tell me he asked while stirring his coffee. I looked up. Tell you what? How life has been treating you all those years. I thought for a minute. My dog died. He raised an eyebrow. Really? When? A few weeks ago. I'm sorry. Now it was my turn to raise an eyebrow. What for? You didn't kill my dog didn't you? I joked. No I didn't but I was the one who gave you that dog. What's his name, by the way? I smiled. Frank. So how has live been treating you? He frowned a bit. I can't complain. I knew there was something more but I didn't want to push any further. He looked at me with a caring smile. He is crazy for not hiring you. I sighted. I guess that he knows what he is doing. I missed you. I missed us. Our moments together I blurted out. I saw him think for a minute, and then he started to grin like a fool. You remembered things? Now it was my turn to grin. I remember everything.
Flashback.
Nobody's pov.
A young man walked through the wooden cabin. Little one, come out, come out, where ever you are. He stood still and waited but he heard nothing. Well he said loud. I think I am going to take a coffee and he walked to the door. He opened it but instead of walking through, he pounded on the floor and closed the door. After that he silently crept under the stairs. He knew he didn't have to wait long, knowing that she was a very impatient girl. He smiled when he heard her little steps coming down the stairs. She was giggling. She past him unaware of his present. When she past him, he grabbed her. So little one, bath time. First she laughed but when she heard bath she started to struggle. Noooo Frankie, I want to be dirty! He chuckled. You're parent will be here any now. If you're not clean by then, they will think I don't pay attention to you. She giggled. Isn't that your problem? For a little girl she was cheeky. He took her upstairs to the bathroom, I think you can undress yourself or do you need help with that too. The little girl crossed her arms in protest and the young man sighted. Look, he bend down to her level, if you play nice now and take your bath, you can have any candy you want. He looked at her while she was thinking about it. Any candy I want? He nodded. Okay and she started to undress herself, while he filled the bathtub. A phone went off and we walked away to pick it up. The girl picked one of the bath flavours and emptied the bottle. The bubbles rose like a mountain. She giggled and stepped in the bath. Downstairs two people came in. A man and a woman. The woman gasped and the man chuckled. They saw bubbles coming down the stairs and then a little girl covered in them. The little girl runs into the arms of the man. Daddy! Hey, princes did you behave. The girl giggled. The woman chuckled exactly knowing what her daughter has been up to. The young man came out of the kitchen and stared at the bubbles downstairs. I swear... it's alright Frank, we know Lexi is a trouble maker. I AM NOT, Frankie promised me a candy if I did my bath. The girl frowned. Not knowing what she did wrong. The three adults laughed.
End of Flashback.
I smiled when I thought back. Yeah I know that, you still didn't give me that candy you promised me. He stared at me for a minute. Do you want it now? Can I still choose? He smiled affectionately. Yes a promise is a promise.
