Jonathan's POV:
Before Evan could even begin to answer my question, a wild Craig appeared, nearly tackling me. "Ahh! Craig what the hell?" I yelped as he hid behind Evan and I.
Lui stepped in front of us, his hands placed suspiciously behind his back. He just walked up to us nonchalantly, not even glancing at Craig who was practically using me as a shield at this point. "Oh, hey guys!" The shorter man greeted with a smile.
"Don't be fooled. He's armed and dangerous," Craig hissed.
"Wha- I was about to ask what the hell he was talking about but Lui interrupted me.
"C'mon Craig, you're ruining the surprise!" He squeaked, lunging at me. I half expected him to pull a knife but instead he reached up, yanking the front of my shirt forward, exposing a small part of my chest. I tried to fight back but it was too late, Lui pulled his hand from around his back to expose a heaping pile of wet sand. Before I could do anything, he smirked, dumping the muck down my shirt. I scream out and quickly turn, shaking the sand from my clothes.
"Lui, you peice of shit!" I wined as the devilish man started laughing. Usually Evan would join in but he was quiet.
"You took the bullet for me! I salute you- you beautiful, beautiful man!" Craig exclaimed, raising his hand to his forehead in a salute.
I felt the wet sand dry over my scratches, making my chest heavy. I no longer felt good. I just continued to frantically brush the sand off, looking away from the others. Evan walked around me so that I was facing him as he helped brush off the sand that clung to my shirt and shoulders. Slowly, his hand found my chest. His cold fingers brushed across my skin as he touched the top of my scars. I know what he was looking at and expected him to say something but he didn't. To my surprise, he adjusted my shirt and pulled at the shoulders of my hoodie to cover up the scars. I looked too him, catching his eye as he gave me a knowing look, patting my back slightly. "Let's talk later," Evan flashed an inviting, yet sad smile, "but for now, how about we enjoy the rest of our day. Wanna maybe build a sand castle?" He offered, still locking eyes with me.
I was baffled by his reaction. Usually people would become awkward after finding out and try to avoid me. They'd always become distant, eventually leaving me. But with Evan, it seemed that he knew exactly how to react, exactly what to say and what to do. I loved it. It made me feel like a real person with somebody who cared about me, accepting me for who I was. "Sure..." I muttered and followed him back to the patch of beach where our friends were now resting. Brock flashed me a suggestive glance as if he thought something happened between Evan and I, which I replied to with a subtle shrug.
Evan gripped my wrist and started pulling me forward with excitement, in the same way a child would. "Here, isn't this spot perfect?" He questioned, stopping on top of a smooth mound of earth that looked out over the shoreline.
I let out a chuckle and nodded, "yes, Evan. It's perfect."
The man smiled, feeling accomplished as he knelt down to start forming his castle. I joined him, mushing a lump of sand together until It formed a shape that sort of resembled a castle. Now, I wasn't the most artistic person ever so shit like this was difficult as hell. I rose to the challenge however, letting my hands do all the work. Soon I had three small towers with a twig sticking up out of the middle one and a waterless moat surrounding them. I stood tall, puffing out my chest with triumph. "Haha, beat that Evan!" I exclaimed.
