James gazes longingly out the window of their bedroom. He makes up adventures in his head about exploring the world. Fighting off the bad guys. Saving the innocent. Losing some close to him along the way. Being the winner at the final duel, beating his enemies. 'Kid stuff,' he tells himself. For that James died a long time ago, and now oppression keeps the window closed. Or his anxiety. Or Lucas. 'Stop thinking of him. He's the reason you're feeling this way, but remember how shit he treated you,' someone said. He continues looking outside, but sees the real world this time.
A lady with long brown hair, freckles and brown eyes, wearing a stunningly encapsulating blue dress that went just below her knees. On her left arm rests a red handbag, the same red as her lips. In her right hand she holds a lead the colour of her bag and lips which holds a dog. James envies the dog because it at least gets to be outside.
"Right, then... I'm off. James?" says Scott as he enters their bedroom wearing his suit for work.
"That was a short strike. What was it - the majority of this month?" James asks.
"Yeah, it began on the second. Today is the... fourteenth."
"Well, good luck. Have fun. And hopefully I'll find myself another job soon."
"Yeah. Well, you best start thinking about your own life. About Lucas. And me," Scott requests.
"I will."
"Bye." He leaves. He leaves without kissing him goodbye.'Lucas may have been an ass, but he always kissed me when we departed. He always was making sure I knew he loved me. Now he probably hates me.' James watches as Scott walks down the road and crosses the corner. James remembers the missing poster he put up for Lucas on that tree on the corner. He then remembers taking all the posters down after he unexpectedly returned.
'I suppose I ought to grab something to eat first,'James says to himself, and he makes his way downstairs to make whatever he could in the kitchen.
-John-
Toby gave him quite a bit to think about. But more time for all that later, as the chase after Bridget advanced. She took a sharp left and John was only a yard behind her. He reaches out his right arm and taps her on her shoulder. "Bridget," he calls. If she had ignored him, John was prepared and rage-filled enough at this point to yank her closer to him. However, he was lucky enough to not have to show this side of him in his own building. Although, owning the world would mean every building belongs to him.
She was close to entering one of the printing rooms for whatever reason John did not know, but instead she stopped, turned around and said, "Yes?"
"You left my personal, albeit small, office without continuing the conversation, without explaining why you had interrupted me in my moments of solitude, without doing anything but to make snide comments and to ridicule me. Would you care now to explain why you did all of these things, Bridget?" John had noticed that most of the people in the hallway have stopped to listen in on the conversation at hand. "Go. All of you, go," he commands. They follow his orders.
"I did have some documents for you to sign, but I realised suddenly that the meeting was held in two slightly different parts. So, logically, they were both recorded separately. The latter was yet to be printed."
"Bridget there are so many flaws in that absurd lie that I have no idea where to begin. In fact, I don't even care anymore."
"Shall we proceed to get the rest of the documents?" They enter the room. "I did expect to have this conversation, but I though it would be back in your office. You did appear rather preoccupied, Sir."John knows where most things are situated in almost every room of this building, so he paid little interest to his surroundings and was more intrigued by listening to what Bridget had to say. Despite her lies and deceitful tricks, John listened on. The printer began feeding them these 'documents' Bridget had spoken about, solidifying her lie.
"I'm not particularly in the mood for a lot of this nonsense. Toby advised me to become that once-loving man I was seen as. So, logically, I have decided to spend the next few days with my family. Considering families are always left behind in times like these. Unfortunately, I do not know whom to give ultimate power in my absence."
"Speaking of family, I ought to return home also. My mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks go, so instead of working, I'd very much like to return to her."
"My condolences. I wish her the very best in her fight," he replies, genuine.
"Yes... Let one of us politicians handle your business."
"Politicians..." John scoffs. "All you people are are lies and lies and lies. Promises unkept and forever broken. No wonder most of the world despises people like you," John informs her.
"I am all too aware of that. What are you, then? If not a politician."
"Me... I'm the leader of the world."
