Since college had become more and more stressful, I decided that at the end of the semester, I would take a vacation. And with nobody else; just me, myself and I. I finished the last of my English 101 review and closed my laptop for the day. I was sitting in the library, tapping my pencil against the hard, wooden surface of the table I was studying at.

Midterms were nearly over, just one more for me to survive. That night had passed by in a blur since all I did was stick my face into a textbook or type away on a keyboard. I hadn’t noticed that it was already 4 in the morning and my last midterm was at 9:30. I decided to rest my eyes and before I knew it, I was being shaken awake by my roommate, telling me it was almost 9 am.

I slowly got dressed and slumped my way to the classroom I was to take my midterm in. I walked into the room, being pretty early, no one was really there yet, except one other boy, Drew. He was texting away on his phone. I took a seat at a desk 2 rows in front of him. “Pst.” I heard a voice whisper. I turned around to discover Drew was now looking up at me. I hadn’t really talked to him the entire semester, let alone acknowledge him. I’m surprised I even knew his name.

"Yes?" I questioned, sort of in an annoyed tone. He threw his hands up in a defending manner, "Woah sorry, just wondering how you think you’ll do on this midterm.." he asked, locking his phone and putting it beside him. "Basically, i’m fucked." I answered honestly, tapping my pencil nervously against the desk. This was true, no matter how much I tried to study my review, it was nearly impossible for me to understand.

He chuckled to himself, “Eh, you’re not alone. I have no idea what’s going on here either.” he admits truthfully, shrugging his shoulders. I gave him a slight half smile and turned back around to face the front, where the exam would begin in about 5 minutes.

About 2 hours passes by, and Drew and I are the only students left in the classroom. I sneak a glance back at him and catch his eye. He sighs to himself and shakes his head slightly. We both get up at the same time, and turn in our exams, which we both know we bombed.

We walked out of the classroom. “Well…that sucked.” Drew started, scratching the back of his head. “I know,” I replied, “I definitely did not get higher than a 50 on that exam, $20 bucks bet on it.” I slung my bag over my shoulder and continued to walk with him. He laughed to himself quietly. “Hmm, I bet you still did better than I did.” he admitted. I went to answer him back but was cut off by another question of his. “Oh hey y/n, you know there’s gonna be a big blowout party tonight at Standish Hall, and I was wondering if you would accompany me to it.” he asked in a nervous tone. Standish was one of the freshman boy dorms, and I had never been inside there before, but rumor has it that all the parties thrown there were insane.

"I don’t know.." I answered hesitantly, "I mean I’m not really a party person so I don’t wanna bring anyone else down." I stopped walking to look up at him. "It’s alright, just stick with me and you’ll be okay." he told me confidently. I took a deep breathe and sighed. "Hm alright then." I answered. "Cool, party starts at 8. I’ll wait outside for you then. Okay?" he answered in an excited tone. With that, I gave him a reassuring nod and walked back to my dorm room.

By the time I was to meet up with Drew, I threw on my british flag top, white skinny jeans, red vans and my obey snapback. Once I arrived at Standish Hall, Drew wasn’t standing outside like he said he would. I took it upon myself to walk in and surely enough I found where the party was happening.

Inside the hall, there was already a ton of people and I could smell the stench of booze and marijuana in the room. I looked in every direction, trying to spot Drew since I didn’t know anyone else at this party. I finally spotted him in a corner with 4 other boys. I walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. “Um Drew, weren’t you supposed to meet me outside?” I asked him, frustrated. He turned in my direction and I could immediately smell marijuana on his breath. “Oh shit. Sorry y/n.” he apologized, handing the joint he had taken a puff from to one of his friends.
