1. Trouble in Paradise

It's been 2 years since the war between humans and vampires ended, after two mysterious young boys, one of them a vampire and the other a human, decided to show everyone that it was possible to live alongside each other peacefully. Now thanks to those two unknown pioneers of equality, the world has come so far. Rebuilding is almost complete on all of the buildings in every city affected by the war, farmers have increased the population of their animals as well as crops for food and a universal agreement was signed stating that every human would donate blood every fortnight for the vampires. For the first time in a long time, everyone was happy. Nobody had to worry about whether or not they would die tomorrow, or whether they'd find their friends/family dead somewhere. This came as especially good news to two devilishly handsome young boys, who can now replace their fears of death, with their fears of love. Although they're about to find out that when it comes to love, there is actually very little to be afraid of.

Mika's POV:

Mika's bedroom - 7:00am *alarm clock goes off*

"Okay Mika, todays the day. This time for sure, you can do it!" I said, excitedly shutting off the alarm clock and jumping out from under my bed sheets. "It's been difficult up until now, but that all changes today," I reassured myself, while walking towards the mirror and pulling on my school clothes. As I reach the mirror I look at myself, dead in the eye "I love you, I always have and I always will. You're the only reason I get out of bed in the morning, the only reason I have to go on living. Each moment I spend with you is another memory I will treasure for the rest of my life.... Yeah that's it, good job Mika, now just say it like that to him... today for sure!" I ran downstairs with all the speed I could muster from my freshly woken muscles, pulled on my shoes and bounced out of the house with a spring in my step, just like every other day.

'I know what I have to say. I know who I have to say it to. I know where I'm going to say it. I just... don't know how he'll react' I thought to myself as I ran into the school yard. That doesn't matter though! He has to know, otherwise what am I going to do? Just go on the rest of our lives pretending I don't have these feelings, I can't do that! Especially since there's a chance... no matter how small... there IS a chance... that he loves me too.

Yuu's POV:

Yuu's bedroom - 7:00am *alarm clock goes off*

"Great. Another day at that boring school," I thought to myself as I dragged myself out of bed. It wouldn't be so bad... I mean, it wasn't so bad, until. *looks down at the floor*. "Mika." I wish he'd stop acting so weird. After the war ended he was so happy, he had so many dreams, so many goals. He even wrote a bucket list of things he wanted us to do together. Then one day he just seemed distant. I tried going over to him to see what was wrong, I just put my hand on his shoulder to get his attention, then when he turned round he just went red, tried to speak and ran away. I was going to chase after him, but the bell went for our next lesson... he never did come in for that lesson. 'What could be wrong with him?' I thought as I walked over to my mirror. I looked myself dead in the eye "Mika, you are my best friend, we've been together for as long as I can remember, you saved me when I was falling into despair and you know I can never repay you for that. If there is one thing I can do for you however, it's being here for you right now, please... tell me what's wrong with you? It's killing me inside, you can't even look me in the eye! I can't help you if you don't let me in Mika. Please, let me help you... Yeah that's it, good job Yuu, now just say it like that to him... today for sure!" I'd pumped myself up with that pep talk, so I had to take advantage of this confidence while I had it, I ran downstairs, pulled on my shoes and bolted out of the house.

'I'm coming Mika' I thought to myself while I ran into the school yard 'I'm going to help you, to be there for you, no excuses today, no running away... you're mine!' He didn't see me, but I saw him, running into the school yard and through the doors into the building. 'You won't get away Mika, I'm coming."
