I sign and fill out all of the papers while he sits at his desk and watches me. Once I am finished I sit the pen on top of them and put the papers in a neat pile.
"How do you like DC so far, Scarlett?" He asks me while leaning back in his chair.
I sit back down in front of the desk and continue the conversation.
"It's okay I guess. The only people I know here are the ones I work with and I'm still not exactly friends with them. I've been trying to find an apartment, too. I'm kind of tired of the hotel life."
He looks at me with a strange expression and then scribbles some things down on a piece of paper. He picks up the phone and dials a number.
"I have something I need you to do- Yes- That's the one- Thank you." Is all that I hear from his end of the conversation.
"Don't worry about an apartment. I'll get it covered." He says like its no. big deal.
"I couldn't. It's fine, really. I can find one on my own." I say back to him.
"It's my pleasure. Just let me do this for you. I want to make sure all of my workers are comfortable." He says and smiles. I can't help but to smile back and nod.
"Do you have a car here?" He asks me.
"No. I've just been taking the taxi." I say and he writes some more stuff down but doesn't pick up the phone this time and I am relieved. I don't want to just take this stuff.
"That's a shame." He says and turns his head to the side and rubs his fingers along his chin.
For some reason I'm getting nervous again and I don't know why.
"Well, Miss Scarlett, I hate to have you go now but I have a meeting in ten minutes." He stands up and walks in front of me and leans on the desk.
"Oh that's fine. " I say and wait for him to move so that I can stand up to leave. I am confused when he doesn't move so I still try to stand up but our bodies are extremely close together. I go to move away but he grabs my arm.
"If you ever need anything, and I mean ANYTHING, let me know. If you have any questions I'm right here." He whispers into my ear. "
"Okay, Mr. President" I say and look into his eyes.
"You're too beautiful to be working with politics." He says, still looking into my eyes.
"So are you, John."
