"Field day today. I suggest you wear something warm." Jayden muttered as he exited the bathroom wearing his uniform. His sweater fitting him loosely.
I grabbed my pants, shirt and sweater and went in the bathroom to change.
I don't know what I was expecting today. I mean I'm not exactly supposed to put my powers out on display and even then I've only seen a few of them at work.
"Come on we don't have all day." Jayden shoved my bag at me and pulled me along outside by my wrist. He's made sure not to touch any exposed skin this entire week. He's also never waited up for me this whole week.
"Where are we going?"
"Out to the field, like I said before it's field day, which means we meet up on the field."
We went out to the back of the academy where there was a huge empty field with trees bordering it.
We walked up to our teacher, Mr. Clare, who was giving everyone instructions. Once he finished he turned to us.
"Jayden and Starlet, Madam Paramis has filled me in on your situations, so for today you shall not be participating in our field day. Jayden, take care of her."
Jayden seemed like he expected it, I'm pretty sure this has happened to him for every field day, besides the whole 'babysitting'. Jayden dragged me away from the other students to the borderline of trees.
He sat down on the grass just under the cover of the trees.
"Sit down." he instructed as he pulled a book out of his bag.
I did as I was told and sat down beside him.
"Pull your book out."
"Why?"
"Because."
"That's not an answer." I crossed my arms getting annoyed at him.
He groaned, "Because, this is your first field day and I was instructed that I have to prepare you for the next, which is tomorrow, just like they did to me. Now, pull out your book."
I sighed, "Fine. You could've just said that before." I said pulling my book out of my bag.
He didn't reply, just started writing. He taught me how I could control my powers and how to do certain things. He also told me about the precautions I must take. Everything he said to me was only about what was in the books that lay before us on the grass.
When I finally closed my book to relax, my stomach growled loudly catching Jayden's attention.
"Starlet, when was the last time you ate?"
I leaned back on the tree behind me, buying myself dome time so I wouldn't have to answer him.
"Eh... I don't see how that's any of your concern."
He groaned, "Not this again."
I rolled my eyes as I stuffed the book in my bag.
"I could say the same for you."
I made a move to get up, but he grabbed my sweater clad wrist.
He sighed, "Why are you acting this way?" he asked almost hesitantly.
I looked at him in disbelief that he would ask me that. "Seriously? As if you don't know! It's not my fault! I can't control this whole soul mate thing! If I could my soul mate certainly wouldn't have been you!" I spat out, breathing heavily from my rant.
He looked at me in shock, "You...you know about soul mates? That we...are...soul mates?"
"Of course I know, just like I know how badly you don't want me as yours!"
