Chapter 28

June's POV:

I was in the deepest part of the forest just trying to forget my troubles. I don't know what to do, my face was tear stained, I had a new mate, who I am pretty sure will reject me and I don't want to feel that pain ever again, like what happened to Johnny. Johnny... That jerk, I will never forgive him for what he did to me and my wolf. Worst of all, he did it with my best friend, well I thought she was my friend then she just dropped me like dead weight. I am such a loser.

Maybe I was meant to be alone. I was crying by the river side when a familiar scent came to my nose, it was Nyla.

Nyla's POV:

I was running through out the forest, searching for June, oh where could she be? I sniffed the air once again and pick up her scent and headed into that general direction. I just arrived at the river and saw June sitting down by the river bank with her knees pulled to her chest. I went behind a tree to shift and when I was done I put back on my clothes. I walked out, fully clothed, towards June and then took a seat next to her. She didn't jump or looked scared so I guess she was expecting me.

"Why did you follow me?" She asked after a couple of minutes.

"Because I was worried about you," I answered.

"Why?" She looked at me with tear-filled eyes. "I was nothing but mean to you, I was a total bitch. I trespassed on your land and then you invite me into your pack. How can you be so forgiving?!"

I looked her then said. "You have been through a lot and can understand where you are coming from. It's never easy trying to fit in, but what I learned in the first year of school was to try and stand out."

She looked at me with a confused look, so I guess I had to make it more clear.

"Look, you made mistakes in the past trying to look cool and stuff right? Well, as long as you are will to make up for those mistake you will always be forgiven," I explained. June had tears coming down her cheeks when I was done.

"Thanks Nyla, you are more cool then I thought," She said giving me a small smile. "But what does it matter now? I'm sure my new mate will reject me just like my last one."

"What are you talking about? Dimitri would never do that," She protested. "Believe it or not, he was rejected by his first mate, too."

"Really?" She gave me a shocked face.

"Yeah, so I guess are damaged goods," I joked, but June gave me a hard look. "Too soon?"

She nodded and I apologized.

"What I am trying to say is that, the both of you had your hearts broken and it's hard to piece them back together," I gave her a reassuring hand. "But I know you two can heal and learn to love each other. If you need to, just take it slow."

Dimitri's Pov:

I just had one thought in my head and it was how mate ran away from me.

Nyla went after her, but hasn't came back yet. She was for a pretty long while and Derek and I were getting worried.

"That's it! They have been got way too long!" Derek broke the silence. "Allen, Ryder get search party ready and-"

"Jeez, I was only gone for fifty minutes, and you all ready fall apart," We turned around and there stood Nyla with June next to her thank god.

"Nyla!" Derek ran up to her and grabbed her in an embrace. "I was so worried!"

"Derek, I'm fine," She giggled. 

Turning away from Nyla, I focus my gaze on just, thank the goddess she is safe. I walked up to her and I was glad she did step back. I stopped when I got close enough and was going to say something, but I was cut off by June hugging me and buried her head in my chest crying.

"I'm sorry I ran away, I sorry I hurt you, please don't reject me," She said in a whisper voice but I'm sure everyone heard that. I was shocked that she would even think that.

"I would never do that, you are other half, you are mine," I wrapped my arm around her and breathed in her scent and my wolf purred with pleasure. "I will never hurt you, my beautiful mate."

She pulled back a little and look at me with watery eyes and a small smile. I lifted her up bridal style and carried her to the garden so we could be alone. Mind linked Nyla a thank you. I was now truly happy, she was right, thing did get better.
