"Beep beep, beep beep" the silly pop-ups of my alarm clock woke me up. Oh man, I hated alarm clocks!Crap! It was already eight a.m. and I was running late for my school. I jumped out of my bed-ah, I hated to bid goodbye to my warm and super soft bed. I wished I could date my bed. He was the best thing in the world.
Without talking to anyone, I got into my bathroom and came out in thirty minutes, that was the fastest I could do. I rushed to my room. "Hurry, Diana. You're late. You promised Mandy, that you'll pick her up!" I was talking to myself. I made my way to my closet. I took out my favorite pair of ripped jeans and a beautiful shirt to go along with and carried my overcoat. I tied my hair into a ponytail and rushed downstairs."Mom! Where's my breakfast?" Man, I was hungry as hell.
"Here", my mom said as she came out of the kitchen with a plate full of sandwiches and a glass of orange juice in her hand.
I had the orange juice and grabbed a sandwich. "I'll have this in car. I'm running late, bye.", I said and rushed towards my car.
While I was driving, my phone buzzed and it was Mandy. Darn it!
"Hello?"
"Where in the world are you, Dee?"
"Uh, I'm-I'm coming in two, no five minutes", I stammered.
"I'm leaving. Isaac's here to pick me up. I know you, and your bloody five minutes", she said and hung up.
God! I really needed to start waking up early.
Within ten minutes, I reached my school. I parked Rustie (My car. Yeah, I named her Rustie) and moved towards my locker. Near my locker, I saw Mandy and Isaac. Isaac Fortson, Mandy's boyfriend.
It has been three years since their relationship.
During our freshman year of high school, Amanda was just a star in Isaac's sky. Constant, bright and far above him. He had known Mandy since the fourth grade, but it felt to him like he knew her in the same way we know people on television. Mandy was a bit closer than that, of course, but somehow, when it's your life, that person can feel even farther off and more unobtainable than an actual celebrity. Proximity doesn't breed familiarity. Anyway, Mandy had organised a party and Isaac was invited and they started talking and had fallen in love. And now, they were the perfect pair. I envy them.A familiar picture came to my mind of the guy with hair as mysterious as the night and the voice that reached the soul. His voice was so full of life that it made me want to cry and laugh, at the same time.
Zayn.
The only love I had ever felt and which I could never have. The great paradox. How can someone feel nostalgia for something they never had?
Anyway."Hey Fartson!" I laughed. I teased Isaac by calling him 'Fartson' instead of 'Fortson'.
"Hello, Dee-Bee", he said, "How are you these days? Still obsessed with that band, eh?"
"Um, yeah. What about you? Having trouble with holding on your farts, huh?"
We both laughed like anything.
"Oh shut up, you two!" Amanda shouted, "Um, Isaac, I'll see you in an hour or two."
"Okay, B'bye, and bye Dee-Bee," he said.
"Bye, Fartson!" I laughed, and we both left.
We attended our lectures and in two hours, we planned to leave. Mandy left with Isaac, and me, with Rustie. Huh. Forever alone.
