It was the full moon and spiritus set out leaving clues for his mother to find him, like he said he would. He waits at the entrance of the valley for her. He ponders upon the moon and the light it casted into his valley and his beautiful fillys below, he hopes his mother was pleased. He waits for a long time before the the wind carries the to well known scent of his mother, Luna.
She nickers a warm greeting and they rub necks.
"You are foolish my son, the high country echo with words of you, yet you are young and still learning just don't get cocky, now show me where you have been hiding"
Spiritus bows his head and walks down the skinny track to the valley. Hail sees Luna and briskly trots up to her.
"Your mother sends hello to her fine Colt" Luna nickers. "You to are being spoken about, "and these are your fine herds that everyone is talking about, The finest of mares. You boys would be foolish to leave here with them, stallion after stallion will fight for them".
She walks wisely over to hails herds and the mares come up to greet her, she then goes up to spiritus mares and spends extra time with Blossom.
"You, must be very careful for you have not been born in the high country as a Bumbry, you must learn quickly and keep out of danger otherwise you will be back with the man or with another stallion"
Blossom nods and last she goes to honey were they rub necks and gossip about herd life. As the night drears on and the sky starts to lighten Luna starts to leave.
"Stay a bit longer please" spiritus asks.
"You have your herd now my son and I must go before its light as the man is searching the country and I don't want maximus to worry" she disappears up the track leaving the herd behind.
The day's become hotter and the screams of stallions could be heard as they fought for mares.
Hail and spiritus had adrenalin pumping through there veins. "Let's go brother and let the bush speak more of our names let's show off our finest fillys and then disappear" spiritus neighs.
" it would be foolish but we should do it, the days are long and boring as it is"
They call to there mares who come with excitement of adventure.
"Stick by our sides and let's have a good day!" Hail neighs to them. The fillies rear and stamp there feet in anticipation. With Spiritus leading they leave there valley and head to the grazing grounds. They set at a brisk trot through the bush, they reach a big open field where they gallop through dodging single gum trees. The two herds mix together, bucking rearing and prancing. They get there breathing back and continue on. It isn't long before they reach the grazing grounds, honey and blossom walk beside Spiritus and his other fillies close behind as well as Hail with his greys and palominos. Stallions heads tune and admire The fillies, fillies heads turn and admire the magnificent young stallions walk through. Spiritus eye catches a bold black stallion who he recognised immediately, Maximus.
Spiritus rears up and let's out a call to his father who lifts his noble head and watches his foolish son with his prized fillies. He returns the call and keeps a close eye on the young brumbys.
Spiritus and hail choose a grazing spot and begin to graze while searching The grounds for mares. It isn't long before a young brown heavy colt calls to one of Spiritus's fillies. Spiritus fills with rage and pins his ears back at the stallion, the brown stallion retaliates and neighs a challenge to spiritus who responds with a paw of his front leg.
The two begin to circle eachother and prance around eyeing eachother off. Spiritus's glamorous black coat shimmers in the sun, it was healthy, shiny and gorgeous. Fillys watched it admiration and stallions watched in jealousy. Spiritus was happy with the fight as he had to test his skills and learn new ones. The brown stallion lunges at spiritus who quickly manuvers and strikes out with his front leg making contact with the Browns shoulder. Screaming with Rage the stallion rears up against spiritus and they lock legs as they fight. Teeth bared, ears back and the shrieks can be heard. Spiritus gets a good hold on the Browns neck making him squel. The brown drops his head and Spiritus lets go. The brown had blood streaked in his coat and spiritus came out with a few scratches. The brown stallion defeated leaves sulkingly without any of spiritus's mares. As spiritus cathes his breath, Hail is confronted by another young stallion, the fight is quick and Hails strength over powers.
It isn't long before another stallion comes this time he has mares Spiritus eye catches one of his chestnut painted fillys and a beautiful buckskin filly. Spiritus dances over quickly to the mares and sniffs noses with them before the big chestnut stallion comes raging over. Spiritus just misses his furious blow, this horse was bigger then him but slower and Spiritus uses that to his advantage. The big chestnut begins to tire which was what Spiritus was aiming to do, quickly spiritus runs into his heard and quickly meets the two fillies he met before. The stallion scream with fury and comes running over.
"Quick follow me" spiritus calls and the two fillies run after him. Spiritus stays back and stops the stallion from retrieving them. The fillies join herds and Honey quickly shows them whose lead mare. The fillies gossip as they watch, Hail was also busy fighting.
"Look at him go!" Spiritus filly Rose says, "he's foolish, but isn't this exciting"
"I'm so glad to be out of that herd, what a dream to be running with the ghost horse himself" says the new buckskin filly, who had a rare golden coat with a Dark brown mane and tail.
"It's certainly an adventure being in both of there herds" honey replies, looking at the two unique brothers.
