Oya, also known as Idie Okonkwo, made her first appearance in Uncanny X-Men #528. She grew up in Nigeria and was also very religious. Idie has the abilities to manipulate temperatures and create heat and cold. She came to realize that people viewed her as a witch, and Idie grew scared about this discovery. Hope Summers and Storm found her and took her in with the X-Men. She became a student at Jean Grey's School for Higher Learning.
