"I... I can't go home..." I trailed off, sobbing.
"You can't?" The lady asked, "why not?"
I sniffed, wiping my cheeks in an attempt to dry them. "They kicked me out... I have no home..."
The lady looked extremely worried, gently rubbing my shoulder. "You have nowhere to stay?" I shook my head. "I could let you stay with me," she offered.
I looked up at her. "You'd do that?" I sniffed.
"I can't just leave a young boy out on the street, can I?" She smiled. "Come on, I was just headed home," she said, taking my hand and walking toward the street.
