23| Together
I clutch at Tris' back like my life depends on it and she wobbles around a bit trying to stay stray from my grip, but she still holds me as I mourn the loss of Eric.
Even though I didn't technically lose him in that way, I still lost him forever. I was going to live my life all on my own now, never to love again.
I felt physically ill, like I was about to throw up and the moving train was not helping. I pull away from Tris and she hesitantly lets go of me.
It was just us two, as everyone else moved to a different car to give us some privacy.
I stumble over to the open door, hunching as I prepare to throw up. I stick my head out and look down, my hair being blown around my face by the strong wind from the force of the train moving at high speed.
I take a glance to the back of the train and the feeling of nausea suddenly disappears and instead my body runs cold.
Eric is catching up to the train.
"Eric!" I scream at the top of my lungs and try to move closer to him without falling out.
He is a quick runner and within seconds, he is near me. Tris looks over as well and her eyes widen when she sees him. I'm crying even more than I was before now.
I put my arm out for him but he doesn't need it and instead grabs onto the side of the car and hoists himself up. Tris and I back up to give him room to get in, and as soon as he does, I throw myself into him.
His skin is ice cold from the wind but he is panting. I can feel his breath fan my ear as he leans down and presses his lips on my temple.
Goosebumps rise on my skin as I feel his lips on me, memories flooding my mind.
I open my eyes to see Tris still standing their, slightly awkwardly but still smiling. Without saying anything, she moves to the other car.
I look up and Eric cups my face. The more I stare at him, the less real this feels. He is smiling ever so slightly, and the sight of his lips make me wanna kiss them so bad.
I stand on my tip toes and press my lips against his. I feel like electricity is zapping through my legs and arms.
His face gets a little wet from my tears, but he doesn't mind.
His hands move from my face down to my waist. He wraps them around me and pulls me closer, my body pressed against his. I grip onto the flaps of his jacket as if I'm scared that if I let go, he'll be gone.
Our lips mould together perfectly, and I can't help but smile against the kiss.
Maybe I didn't lose him after all.

I sit on Eric's lap facing him as we lean against the back of the train. His legs are spread out underneath me and I rest my head on his shoulder.
