The protector

Chapter 3

When I got home, I parked the bike in the garage and put Cassie on the ground, opened up the seat and started taking out the bags.

Once I had them all out I closed the seat and stated bringing the groceries into the house.

I put them away and quickly went into my room before my mom could call me back downstairs.

I checked the time and saw it was 5:40pm so I grabbed my schoolbag from off the floor and started my homework.

It was another normal day at school, me sitting at the back of math class, chewing gum and on my phone while listening to music, not even bothering to pretend I am listening.

The bell rang and I quickly got up and walked out of class before anyone else could leave the room.

I was walking down the halls towards my next and favourite class, art when I bumped into someone.

I was about to walk away when the person I bumped into, grabbed my arm and slammed me into the ground.

I looked up and saw one of the most popular guys in school, Brandon standing there smirking at me evilly.

I gulped and tried to sit up but he pushed me back down with his boot on my stomach.

Usually I don't care to say sorry or anything to anybody but to be honest, the populars scare me.

The only reason why I said sorry to Ace was because I thought he was one of the jocks of the school and didn't feel like getting beaten up.

"Watch where your going, trash bag" He said in a calm voice that only meant trouble.

I didn't do nothing, but stare at him knowing that whether I respond or not, he is going to end up beating me up anyways.

He pulled his fist back, ready go take a swing and I just stared back at him with a bored expression on my face, when a hand stopped the fist, just before it made contact with my face.

There were loud gasps from the crowd around us, watching the fight that was bound to happen.

I quickly looked behind me and saw Ace with an angry expression on his face. He shoved Brandon off of me and stepped in front of me.

I looked around Aces shoulder at Brandon and saw a look of shock on his face before he hid it with a smirk. That can't be good.

Brandon opened his mouth to speak but before he could even get a word out of his mouth, the principle came storming down the hall.

"What is going on here? The bell rang five minutes ago, all of you get to class know!" She bellowed, finally getting into the circle of students.

Slowly one by one, everyone went to their class and soon it was only me, Brandon, Ace and the principle left in the hallways.

She then turned towards us with a scowl on her face, obviously pissed.

"All of you, to my office know!" She yelled at us.

We nodded and and started walking towards the principles office. The walk was silent and I sat down in the corner of the office which is my usual spot and Ace sat beside me, Brandon as far away from us as possible.

I took out my phone and texted Vi, who was on the roof know, wondering what happened.

I was telling her I was fine and that nothing happened, when the principle walked in and I quickly put my phone away, knowing my punishment would be worse if I was caught texting.

The principle, Miss Smith sat down at her desk and looked at me signalling for me to talk.

I stood up and walked into the middle of the room with a smirk on my face.

"So here is what happened. I was just minding my own business, walking down the halls and heading to my next class, when BAM!" I said slamming my fist on the principles desk, making her  and everyone else in the room jump in fear.

"I slammed into Brandon and he was almost nocked to the ground. I tried telling him countless times that I was sorry and he just wouldn't listen. So, he grabbed me by the arm and pushed me to the floor and put him foot on my stomach. I wiggled loose from his hold and then I got up and grabbed the closest person to me, which just happened to be Ace and put him in front of me, using him as a human shield" I said with a smirk before turning towards the boys who were both staring at me with wide eyes.

I walked back to Ace and sat back down beside Ace.

"Just go with it, trust me" I said low enough that nobody will hear.

He nodded subtly and he opened his mouth to speak but the principle beat him to it.

"Is this true, Brandon, Ace?" She asked doubtfully.

Ace nodded his head and we both looked at Brandon and he stared right into my eyes for a couple of seconds.

I nodded so that on the will see and then Brandon turned towards the principle and slowly nodded his head.

Miss Smith sighed and slowly nodded her head with her eyes closed. A couple seconds later, she opened her eyes and I silently hoped she believed the lie.

"Ok, you both have detention and you, Mr. Miller, have a warning. You are all dismissed" she said pointing at me and Brandon.

I could tell Ace was about to argue so I quickly grabbed his arm and dragged him into a nearby empty classroom.

I closed and locked the door before turning towards him. I was about to open my mouth but he quickly interrupted me.

"What are you doing? Why would you save our butts like that? You hate me!" He asked shocked.

"Well I didn't want to get in any more trouble then I already am in and just think of this as a thank you from me to you" I said with a smirk.

I turned around and walked down the hall and towards the deserted hallway and looked back, making sure nobody was following me and I didn't see anyone so I jogged towards the janitors closet and opened the door leading to the stairs and ran up them two at a time.

When I got to the roof, I saw Vi passing around close to the door, looking worried.

She must have heard the door close behind me because she turned around and looked at me with wide eyes before calming down once she realized it was me and not someone else.

"Where the hell have you been? I've been worried sick!" She said annoyed and frustrated.

I sighed before going to the edge of the roof and sat down, her following me and doing the same, still waiting for an answer.

I sighed again and started my explanation of what happened.
