Chapter 41: I told you I'd be back.
"This is amazing. They have to like it. They would be crazy not to." Taylor paused the demo and sat back in her chair, lacing her red-nailed hands together after running a hand through her thick bangs.
"Thanks...I'm proud of it I just...I don't know if its good enough. I feel like there's something more I can give I just don't know what. You know?"
She sighed, nodding. "I know. I feel the same way after an album is finished. It's normal."
"Then there's the: am I being personal or...not personal enough? Uuuugh I don't know what to do."
"I think it's perfect. And besides. You already sent it to Dan. All you can do now is wait. I'm already a fan."
"Thanks Taylor....I'm really glad you made it out here."
"Me too, Bee. Wanna grab some lunch?" she motioned down the steps with a finger.
"Yeah, let's do it."
We left the studio, sprinting Down the steps and making an automatic beeline for the kitchen, one opening the fridge, one digging in the cabinets. The front door opened, telling us Hunter was home. I motioned for Taylor to drop the bread in her hand and get down behind the island. I crouched down beside her, staying quiet. Hunter walked up to the island, throwing his keys on it before walking over to the fridge. I mouthed for Taylor to follow me and stood up, walking up behind Hunter without a sound, praying the wood floor wouldn't creek under our weight like it occasionally did.
Behind my back, one at a time I counted to three on my fingers. I wrapped my arms around Hunter's back suddenly as Taylor screamed. He jumped in surprise, screaming himself. Me and Taylor instantly burst into a fit of laughter, snapshotting Hunter's priceless face in our the back of our minds.
"You should've....seen...your face!" Taylor choked out inbetween laughter. I nodded in agreement, slapping a high five with her.
"Priceless!"
"Ha ha, very funny. You two are just the light of my life." Hunter responded sarcastically, his face straight, even though I knew he wasn't mad for real.
"Oh, you know we are. So what's up? We were just about to make lunch. Want some?"
"Yeah, sure."
I grabbed the bread from Taylor, setting it on the counter.
"Hey babe, would you get three plates for me?"
"Yep."
I took them from him, pulling out 6 slices of bread and putting two down on each plate. Taylor set the jam and peanut butter down on the counter next to everything else. Classic PB&J: shows how fancy we got around here. A chill ran through me and I covered my arms with my hands.
"I'm gonna go get a sweatshirt, be right back."
Both Hunter and Taylor nodded, not looking up from their food. I made my way to the stairs, climbing up them. I walked down the hall, into the bedroom and to the closet.
The room was semi dark, because the curtains were closed. I swore I opened those earlier this morning....
Shrugging to myself, I opened the closet door, stepping in and reaching for a sweatshirt. I had my back to the main door of the bedroom, and jumped when I heard it close. Peeking out of the closet, I saw no one. Maybe it was just the wind....Stop being so paranoid, Bridget, it was nothing. No ones there. And if there is, it's only Hunt or Taylor messing with you. Stop being so delusional. But everything I was telling myself, trying to calm myself down, washed away when I felt a tap on my shoulder.
