"India, what are you doing today?" Mama asked as she poked her head into my bedroom door.

"Knock?" I muttered, though I was just sitting in front of my computer like I always did for a living. My mom looked at me expectingly and I sighed heavily, putting my phone down. "I'm going out to buy more cream. I'm running out too fast."

"Maybe you should go natural-"

"Ma, I'm albino. How many girls do you know that have pale skin like mine?" I murmured absently since we had the talk all the time, finding myself back on Instagram.

"Have you ate?" I heard her ask. I froze for a split second, then continued to try and act natural.

"I, uh, I -"

Mama sighed through her nose, pinching the bridge of it. "India, you have to eat."

"I'm fine." I lied through my teeth. "I don't need anything to eat."

"I can't take this! I can't have you doing this to yourself! Your doctor said you lost over twenty pounds in the past months since you left school. What's wrong? Just tell me."

My breath hitched at her soft and pleading tone, which made her seem almost desperate. "Ma, I'm okay. I promise."

What good are promises if you don't keep them?

I heard a small sigh and after a few minutes, I dared to look back. She was gone. I let out a sigh of my own, though my was out of relief and not exasperation.

Ding!

My notification for Instagram went off and I turned on my phone to check it out. It was one of my followers.

"Magcon event today! I'm next in line!" It read. I gasped quietly and typed back:

"Really? Who are you meeting?" It took her about two minutes to reply, and those minutes felt like hours.

"Cameron and Daniel. I'm planning on showing Daniel your covers btw, so let's cross our fingers ☺."

"You're kidding. REALLY OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH."

"You're welcome. (I deserve a follow back) #crossforIndia."

"I'll do that. #crossforIndia."

I turned on my camera and began filming a video for my vlog, which held about four thousand followers. That was a major achievement for me, since I had started off as nothing and began my work towards the top.

I made sure the camera and the lighting was right before I started recording.

"Okay guys, sorry this isn't an actual update, but I have news! I need you," I pointed at the camera, "to help me trend this hash tag. Its called, 'crossforIndia'." I crossed my fingers. "Basically, one of my loyal Instagram followers is at a Magcon event right now, right now, and she plans to show Daniel Skye, my favorite singer besides Gilinsky, my covers. I'm freaking out too, like oh my gosh! So we're all crossing our fingers that he actually checks them out! Let us all pray," I bowed my head for a second, "okay I'll update soon! Bye!" I blew a kiss at the camera and turned it off.

I laid my phone down and went to my closet. "What to wear... ah!" I grabbed my purple kool-aid hoodie and my black canopy jeans that were ripped at the knee. I slipped on the black and purple huaraches that went with the outfit. I grabbed my half framed horn-rimmed glasses because I knew I wasn't going to be able to see anything without them.

I decided not to bring my phone with me to hype my element of surprise. I couldn't let a single bad thought into my mind about this. What if he really does check it out?
