I nervously checked my phone. 6:45. I still had 15 minutes before dinner. I looked at myself in my full length mirror, making sure I didnt look ugly. I had on a dark blue pull over sweater, and a short skirt that came down to about mid-thigh. I was wearing my favorite converse, decorated with the American flag. I checked my phone again and, seeing that it was 6:50, started to make my way nervously up to Jordan's apartment. I, being the graceful butterfly I was, tripped on the stairs. I cursed under my breath, then ran a hand through my dirty blonde hair. I continued my way up (carefully), until I reached the next floor. I walked steadily down the hall, trying to control my breathing. Goddamn, why do I have to like Jordan this much? I approached the door, and raised my hand to knock. Knock, knock. I tried to calm my breathing as I waited for someone to answer. Just as I lifted up my hand to knock once again, a girl opened the door. A girl opened the door to Jordan's apartment. My heart started to hurt as we both stared at each other. As I looked her up and down, she smiled at me.
"You must be Vic. Jordan has said some things about you," she said. "I'm Samantha. You can come in, you know. You were invited, right?" I realized I had been standing dumbly in the hallway, so I nodded and Samantha took me inside. "Jordan's just finishing up some recording," she told me. "He'll be out in a minute." I nodded again, looking around Jordan's apartment. I felt like I was going to throw up, so I asked Samantha where the bathroom was, as nicely as I could manage. She pointed in the direction of the bathroom, smiling still. I quickly made my way to the room she had pointed to, and kneeled before the toilet. I retched, but due to the lack of lunch I had, nothing came up. Why was I reacting this way? I knew Jordan would have a girlfriend. I had told myself over and over again to not get my hopes up. I glared down at my chest. Stupid heart. Well, at least he's with someone nice. Samantha seems so friendly, she must make Jordan happy. Not to mention how gorgeous she is. Long blonde hair, dark brown eyes, and a nice smile. I retched once more, then stood up and fixed myself up. Vic, you're gonna be ok, I told myself. Just go through with this dinner, then you don't need to ever see Jordan again. Or Samantha, for that matter. I sighed. I'm strong. I can do this. I pushed my hair out of my face, then did my best fake smile in the mirror. Here we go, i thought. I pushed open the door and stepped out, only to walk into Jordan. Again. He gently pushed me away and smiled at me.
"We have got to stop meeting like this," I joked. Just pretend everything's cool, Vic.
"I know, right?" He laughed. His laugh was so nice. It made my smile turn real, just for a second. "I see you've met my sister, Samantha. She's visiting for the weekend..." The rest of Jordan's words were lost on me. Sister. I started to smile more and more. So maybe there was a chance he was single... Eh, it probably be best if I didnt get my hopes up. I noticed that Jordan had stopped talking, and was looking at me funny. I suddenly got very self-concious, and quickly thought of something to say.
"So... What's for dinner?" I asked. Jordan thankfully stopped staring at me.
"Sammy was going to cook for us, but she burned the food," Jordan laughed.
"Shut up Jordy!" she teased.
"Anyways," he continued, his smile still present, "is pizza cool? I know you just moved here and all, and pizza probably isnt the ideal first dinner, but there's a really great place across the street!"
"Sounds good," I agreed.
"About that.." Samantha said. "Me and Nick have a date tonight... So I'm not going to be joining you for this fancy pizza dinner. Sorry." Jordan looked slightly disappointed, but shook it off quickly.
"That's fine. Me and Vic will just have fun with you!" He said excitedly. "Come on!" he said to me, grabbing my hand and pulling me out the door. I, of course, jumped at the sudden contact, but luckily Jordan didnt notice. He was too busy pulling me into the elevator.
~~ At the Pizza Place ~~
"Mmmmm," I sighed. "This.. this is some good pizza."
"I know! It's my favorite place!" Jordan replied, taking a large bite of his pepperoni slice. I giggled at the large piece of cheeze hanging out of his mouth. He crossed his eyes looking at it, and then swallowed it all. Goddammit, why does he have to be so cute?? "So, why did you move to Cali?" he asked. I told him about how I've always wanted to live here, and how I couldnt wait to see everything. Jordan suddenly got this mischevious glint in his eyes. He dropped a twenty on the table, then stood up and grabbed my hand.
"Wha- Jordan! Where are we going?!" I asked in surprise as he dragged me out the door.
"Out." Thats all he told me before he practically shoved me into his car. I let out a small groan. Jordan climbed into the front seat, and started his car. I started to pester him about where we were going, and he just ignored me and turned on the radio. The song Can't Hold Us came on, and I had to mentally force myself to not sing along. Vic. Vic dont sing. Vic no. Theres a cute boy next to you. Don't sing. Vic no. That's when I realized Jordan was singing along quietly. I joined in with him, and we both started singing at the top of our lungs, laughing in between lyrics. When the song ended, we couldn't stop laughing. "Hey Vic," Jordan said, once he had regained his speech.
"Yeah?" I asked, still fighting the urge to giggle.
"Wanna be friends? Actually, no. Wanna be best friends?" He said excitedly.
"Of course.. Jordy," I said, teasing him. He playfully punched me, then pulled into a parking lot. "Wanna tell me where we are now?" I asked innocently. He shook his head, and got out of the. I groaned, and followed him out of the car. I immediatly broke out in a big smile when I realized we were at a beach. I love the beach. But wait... "Jordan, it's 9:30, and we dont have swimsuits."
"So?" Jordan ran over to the waves, looked at me over his shoulder, and dove in. "Idiot.." I muttered, but followed him into the water. It was freezing! Jordan must of noticed me shivering, because he gracefully swam over to me. "Cold?" he asked. I nodded, and what Jordan did next surprised the pants off of me (not literaly). He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close to him. "Better?" he asked innocently.
"Yeah..." I said sheepishly with my teeth still chattering. Then, Jordan surprised me yet again. He pick me up, bridal style, and carried me onto the beach.
"Being out of the water should help," he said, looking down at me. I felt myself slipping from his arms, and tightened my grip around his neck, unintentionally pulling his face closer to mine. We both stared at each other, daring the other one to make a move. "Vic... I think.. we should be more then friends.." And then he kissed me. For a long time. I felt warm inside, despite the fact that on the outside i was freezing. When he finally pulled away, the last thing I saw before I blacked out was his smile and his warm brown eyes.
