Judy's P.o.V

The caller on the line had a deep voice, like that of a larger animal, and they sounded extremely frantic. "Please, help me! I need an ambulance as soon as possible!" A male animal shouted in a shaky voice.

"What happened? Are you hurt?" I asked.

"No, but my shop has also been robbed!"

"Okay, just sit tight Sir, we'll be down there in a flash," I assured him.

Without thinking, I slammed the phone down on its base, gaining Nick's attention from across the room as he jumped in his seat.

"If you're putting that much strength into hanging up a telephone, this must be something serious," he said as he stood up.

"It most definitely is, and I'm surprised you aren't cracking jokes right about now." We both gathered the things we'd need and headed straight for Chief Bogo's office. He knew anything and everything that went on in the precinct, and nothing slipped past his watchful eyes either, especially with Clawhauser in the building. That bubbly cheetah can't keep anything a secret, even if he wanted to.

After a few minutes, Nick and I arrived in front of the Chief's office door. Inside, I could hear what sounded like-

"Is he seriously messing with that Gazelle app?" Nick asked in annoyance.

"Yep. In fact, everyone is now." I said. He laughed so hard that he ended up snorting.

"Yeah, everyone except me," he finally said once his laughter died down.

I gasped at those words. It was hard to tell whether he was hinting towards the fact that he possibly hated Gazelle or just that the app bored him more than it excited him period. Either way, I found it rather shocking.

"So, does that mean you... hate Gazelle?" I questioned.

Nick shook his head. "Are you kidding? With an appearance that highly attractive, what guy in their right mind actually would be so quick to dislike her? I mean, she's the epitome of female perfection, and let's not forget about those vocals!"

Hearing how positively he spoke about Gazelle stirred something up inside of me. Was this that one feeling I thought it was? Was I, Judy Hopps, becoming jealous of my favorite pop-star? That had to be impossible, right? I already found my spot in Zootopian publicity when I proved myself as an officer and I also didn't need to hear a compliment to feel good about myself. So, why did this bother me anyway?

"I think 'perfection' is an invalid word to use here because nobody's perfect," I commented, severely regretting the need to even take offense to what Nick had said.

"Hmm, I guess that- Wait a minute..." he paused, stopping himself mid-sentence. With crossed arms and an obvious smirk, he faced me. I already knew what he was thinking.

"Is someone a little... jealous here?" He sarcastically asked.

"No!" I quickly blurted aloud as I felt the temperature in my body rise.

"Oh, Judy, you're just too cute," Nick teasingly remarked, squatting down a little closer to me and petting the top of my head.

"Nick! Stop it!" I demanded swatting his paw away as I knocked once more on the Chief's office door. This time, he heard the knocking and answered the door.

"What? Chief Bogo roared almost immediately, making the two of us flinch. "I'm very busy here."

Nick's P.o.V

"Don't worry, Sir. We promise you can count on us to crack this case," A confident Judy assured Mr. Diam, a Downtown shopkeeper (who was a tiger) that owned one of the most expensive jewelry stores in the area, before she and I headed out.

According to the story he gave us, his shop was robbed in broad daylight, about $6,200 worth the jewelry was stolen, all the cash stored in the cash register was now "missing", and the shop had also been trashed with spray paint and other items. I personally thought the damages were a nice addition though!

"Exactly how are we going to solve this as you so freely promised?" I curiously asked.

"With the power of intelligence, confidence, and positivity, of course!" She exclaimed.

"Pfft. It sounds more like you're referring to yourself when you say that," I muttered under my breath as I stepped towards our police car. Judy's hearing is impressively sharp, so there was no doubt in my mind that she wouldn't miss a single word of my sentence. She gasped in surprise as we got in and buckled our seat belts up.

"I would never brag about myself. That's definitely not like me," she said as she cranked up the car and drove off.

"Well, alright. Whatever you say..." I said in an unconvinced tone of voice, pulling my phone out and tapping away.

"A fox who's a little self-centered himself believes I have the potential to become condescending or egotistic? Am I hearing this right?" She questioned.

"I don't know. You're smart enough to figure that out yourself, right?" I asked back jokingly.

Without warning, Judy mashed on the brake pedal, which made me gag on my seat belt and drop my phone. When I finally regained the air that had been knocked out of my lungs, I turned my head towards her with an expression of annoyance, my ears falling in a downwards position to add to things. "Seriously Judy?" I asked.

She took a brief glance at me and stuck her eyes back to the road ahead of her, a devious smile forming across her face.

"What?" She asked as if she were completely innocent. "I can't just run red lights whenever I please." I looked up and noticed the intersection filled with traffic lights. How did I not notice those before? Maybe it had something to do with the fact that Judy made it look like she was going to break a simple traffic law by speeding up so I wouldn't catch on to her true motive.

"Oh please, you were trying to do that. Weren't you?" I asked as I reached down and picked my phone up off of the floor.

"I don't know, Nick. You're intelligent enough to figure that out yourself, right?" She questioned in return with a wink. I huffed and started playing with my phone again.

"Sly bunny," I said.

"Dumb fox," Judy replied with a laugh.

The light switched to green and she took off. Although my phone served pretty well as a distraction source, I still glanced at Judy occasionally, smiling my life away for as long as I could. Something about her made me happy. Maybe it was her determination and desire to become something better than the average farm bunny. Maybe it was the fact that she succeeded into changing an entire city and making the world a better place. Or maybe there was something more to it, something beyond her achievements and intelligence...
