*Holy Crap! Ten chapters!*
I woke up with a massive headache. I couldn't stop thinking about what Mason said. Not that I'm considering taking him back, it's just how could he be so cruel?! Whatever. I need Advil. I got up and walked to the bathroom having the pills and quickly swallowing them. My head was still pounding! What's wrong with me??? I looked in the mirror and realized I was still wearing a really tight headband. That must have been on all night. I took it off and my head immediately felt so much better. I walked downstairs and the television was screaming at me from the corner.
"BREAKING NEWS! REPORTS OF NEW DISEASE. SCHOOLS CLOSED UNTIL VACCINATION IS FOUND. THE DISEASE IS FATAL AND BEING NOW BEING KNOWN AS--"
Whatever. I switched the television off and grabbed some food. Don't they come up with a new fatal disease every month? Oh well. I ran upstairs and woke up Peter. He demanded we cuddle and I happily obliged. He turned on the television and every channel was the same. Talking about the disease.
They were calling it cranium Decease. Brain death. They said we should be fine if we start in doors, but that we should get enough food and water for at least 2 months. Right now I'm terrified. Peter and I drove to the grocery store and it looks as if everyone else had heard the announcement too. There were hundreds of people spilling out of the store, there were broken windows and alarms blaring. We ran in and grabbed a cart, filling it with the necessities, nothing perishable and lots of water. I grabbed some.....girl things......and Peter acted like he didn't notice. I grabbed a cart and filled it too with necessities. We seemed to be the only ones not freaking out when we reached the register. "um ma'am?" The lady at the register seemed very out of it. She moaned and turned her head. Her face was torn on one side flesh hanging loosely from bone and Huge bite mark on her neck. She tried to reach out and grab me but I was out of there with Peter taking closely behind. That's what Cranium decease looks like.
*2 weeks later*
Twenty-seven. I've killed twenty-seven of them. I can't stop counting no matter how hard I try I can't. I looked into the life less hungry eyes of the one I had pinned. I raised my axe, Twenty-eight. I walked back to the house and into the cellar. Peter and Daniel were waiting asking with Mason and Sophie.
All of our parents were eaten alive by the infected. I hadn't heard from my mom since two days before everything happened. She is probably dead too. I've given up on hope all it does is make you weak, one thing I can't do. "Found this" I tossed a half eaten box of cereal at Mason. "Sophie eats first." That was out rule, Sophie, Daniel, Me, Mason, then Peter.Youngest to oldest. Sophie is 6 now but acts like me. She's learned about so much that 6 year olds don't need to know. She has to grow up in a world of the hungry dead.
You're probably wondering what the heck Mason and Sophie are doing here. Well we were going to leave town after we picked everything up about a week ago. We had to drive past Masons house, he was on the front porch stabbing his father repeatedly in the chest trying to kill him. Sophie was crying obviously. "Aim for the head" I screamed out the window and he eventually killed him. They ran to the car and I held Sophie. I mean it's better to travel in groups, yeah? We made it out to a small farm in the middle of no where with a storm shelter. The storm shelter is all metal, so we figured it was good to sleep in and stuff. That aren't any stronger than a natural man. we take shifts scavenging. I'm supposed to go with Peter but he was asleep. He hasn't slept in days ago I just went. "Where the hell were you?!" Peter pulled me onto his lap. "I was worried sick, I thought you had died..." He whispered kissing me. I could feel all eyes burning on the back of my neck, but I was used to it.
When Peter kissed me it reminded me of older times when we could walk around town and not pee in the corner on a phone of old newspapers. Speaking of which, someone needs to move that it stinks. "Sorry baby, won't happen again" I whispered. "Promise?" he hummed, "Promise." I returned. "Okay Okay we get it you're in love now stop before you ruin my little sister innocence." Mason pulled me off Peter and shoved the cereal box in my face. I happily ate my food, the first in days, before passing it on to Mason, our eyes met for a few seconds and I could see the pain behind them. I'm sure my eyes held the same pain, but I wouldn't know, I haven't looked at my reflection in weeks. I do know I smell terrible. If only I could have a freaking shower!
Mason and Daniel were out scavenging so Peter and I were left to baby sit. Sophie fell asleep after I sang her one song. Peter and I were alone-ish. I fell into him and we just held each other clinging on to the last piece of sanity we had because each other. Love can make you do crazy things but it can keep you from doing even crazier things.
*Quick turn around right? well sorry it's so late! there was this big hair thing that happened today but I fixed it calm down. I hope you liked where this is going! Love you, more tomorrow!*
