12.

   Chapter 12

   I sighed as I finished up the last piece of my science homework and then put the books baack in my bag. It's been exactly one week since I've stayed here. It hasn't gone well, but it could've been much worse.

   It's just that Austin never talks to me except for when we have to walk to school together and after school he's with Louise, or apparently they're calling her Lou or something.

   And I'm still confused about everything. Sarah and Alex and the other are trying to help but we're not making progress. If you're wondering what I'm talking about, it's about Louise and Austin.

   Remember that one time Alex heard them talking together? When Austin said he thought I was datin Aaron?

   Alex and Sarah have this crazy theory that Austin is mad at me because he thinks I'm dating Aaron. And they think he likes me. Which is also crazy. Because he doesn't. 

   I sighed again and took out my phone and called Alex.

   After a few rings he answered.

   "Hello?" he asked.

   "Hey," I said.

   "Are you okay?" he asked.

   "No," I said truthfully.

   "I know," was all he said. 

   "So why'd you call? Not that I don't like talking to you or anythiing," he asked quickly adding in the last part.

   "I don't know I finished all of my homework and uh now I'm bored," I said.

   "Oh! I have something to tell you! Ok look come by my house like right now, I'll call Sarah over too. I need to tell you guys something. Be here as quick as you can!" he exclaimed and then hung up. I shrugged. It must be something really important.

   I got up and walked downstairs where Michele (Austin's mom) was sitting in the living room reading a a magazine.

   "Um I'm going to walk to my friend's house, I'll be back soon," I explained.

   "It's really chili out there, here put on this hoddie," she said and tossed me a hoodie but I hesitated before putting it on.

   "But it's Austin's," I said.

   "So? He won't mind," she stated and then went back to reading. I took a deep breath and then put it on. 

   I walked out the door and walked to Alex's house which wasn't far from here.

It was only about a 5 minute walk. I reached his house quickly and then knocked on the door.

   I've never been here before but he told me where he lived a few days ago and I just remembered.

   A miniture version of Alex answered the door.

   "Um who are you?" he asked  nervously.

   "Um I'm Alex's friend. He told me to meet him here," I explained. He nodded and then gestured for me to come in. I stepped inside and then looked around. It was only a one floor house but it looked pretty nice.

   "Hey Audrey!" Alex shouted and walked over to me. I smiled when I saw him.

   "Follow me, Sarah's already here because she lives closer," he explained and then led me into his room.

   I walked inside and found Sarah sitting on his bed looking around. I sat next to her and then we both stared at Alex.

   "Are you going to tell us why you brought us here?" Sarah asked.
