Having one loyal friend and no one else, can be lonely sometimes but for me, it was everything that I ever wanted. I never had my father to rant to about my problems, or to even play games with me, so I would take my phoenix and play my games with him. Hide n seek being one our favorite games to play. At first, we would just play it in the house but once I got older it was getting harder and harder to hide. So, Blaz and I decided that we would take the game outside in the forest. Today being one of those days, but today was also going to be different than the rest.
"Hey, Blaz do you want to go outside, we could then go play hide 'n' seek in the woods," I explained while looking outside on a Friday morning. With a coffee in my hands, I was looking out the kitchen window across the backyard to see that it was going to be a gorgeous sunny day. I did notice that everything on the deck still looked quite wet from the rain we weren't expecting last night. It was Easter break and I had nothing to do, inside or outside of the house. 'I don't know', thought Blaz with a shrug. When I looked over at Blaz, whom was perched on his stand sleeping, all I saw was him lifting the top end of his wings to show a shrug, which I understood that Id have to wait to get an answer from him, but I never dared say it straight to Blaz' face. "I thought you loved playing hide n seek. What's the matter, don't you want to play it today? Are you sick or something?" I ask making my voice have a worried tone on the last question. "If you are sick, you know that I'd have to take you to the vet's in a bird carrier. Unfortunately, I can't do that because then I would have to ship you off to England and I just can't afford to do that, I just can't Blaz," I explained in frustration and almost started crying because the thought of losing my friend like I did my father, wasnt going to sit well.
'I don't know, I do love playing the game but then I don't only cause Im really tired from yesterday's game of hide n seek.' With all the questions that I had tossed at him all I saw was another shrug. "Well, I guess I'll just wait for a bit, so you can think about whether or not you want to go outside and play in the forest," I exclaimed. While I was waiting for an answer from Blaz, I started to pack things for me to do while I would wait for Blaz to come and find me in the forest. Only if we were going to play Hide 'n' Seek. After waiting about 5 minutes or so, I looked at Blaz and asked if hed thought about playing. When I asked him about it this time, he lifted into the air and landed on the edge of the perch I had placed on the edge of the countertop. When he did this, I knew that that had meant that me was ready to go and play. It didnt take long for Blaz and I to get ready to go out into the backyard. Once we were ready I opened the patio door and walked out. I waited until Blaz had flew through but when I looked behind me I saw that he wasnt inside the house. This started to worry me, so I started to panic.
When suddenly I heard a scratching noise on the railing along the deck, when I looked to see where the noise was coming from, I felt a wave of relief go through my entire body because it was Blaz making the scratching sound. After seeing Blaz on the railing, I closed the patio door leading inside the house. When we were going down the decks stairs, we noticed that it was a little bit chilly out but having the weather like this didn't stop the two of us going out into the forest to play our game. After we had reached the forest's edge, we decided on who was going to count and who was going to go and hide. Once decided on whom was going to count and who was going to hide, Blaz and I went into the forest and picked a spot that was going to act as the place where we would count. Once that was all done and Blaz had settled on one of the tree branches, I then set out from the position where he was, deciding to go deeper into the forest, so I could hide and wait for Blaz to come find me.
One thing I didn't know was the different hidden mysteries that Blaz and I had yet to discover within this forest which is located behind the house. This was because when my father had first moved here, he was told by the reality state agent, that not a single soul should ever enter the forest, but having a family that is extremely adventurous, we never listened to him, he was also very crazy. When I was older, and my father gone forever, Blaz and I had decided that we were going to play Hide 'n' Seek in here. Just to pass the time inside the house, we never played outside in the rain, eve though sometimes I wish we would. But the only problem with the forest was that we weren't all to familiar with it, so on the first day that we had decided to play Hide n Seek in the forest, we agreed that we would play the game closer to the entrance. Every time we played the game we would travel deeper into the forest. Until today, when I decided that I was going to hide much deeper then both Blaz and I have traveled so far, thinking that it would be more fun.
When I thought that I was a good enough distance away from where Blaz was counting, I began thinking of other games that we could play in this forest. I thought of a few which included things from playing tag to just running around to not playing any game at all. While walking deeper and deeper into the forest, I started to hear rustling of leaves. I didnt pay much attention to the sound, until I kept hearing the leaves rustle behind me more and more. It started to scare me, so I started to walk faster and faster as well as deeper and deeper into the forest. I had to finally stop and catch my breath because I had realized that I had broke out into a full-on run. Once I caught my breath I decided to get close to the rustling sound. While I had gotten closer, I heard the sound getting louder and louder every time I stepped closer to the sound. When I arrived at the spot where I was pretty sure the sound had come from, as quietly as I could I looked behind the bush and saw a huge white torso. When I looked farther up the white torso, I realized that the white coat belonged to a white wolf. W-wait wolf?! I had to look again, and once I confirmed that it was indeed a wolf, I slowly backed away and hopefully didnt make a sound, until I felt a stick under my foot slowly break and then the famous snap of the stick. When the stick did break I froze and quickly looked up to see the wolf looking straight at me, with its sky-blue eyes. When the wolf saw me, it started to growl softly, bearing its white fangs. The growl then started to get louder and louder, until the growl sounded like it was going to burst my eardrums and give me a headache.
I was sick to my stomach at this point because I thought that for sure the wolf would launch at me and rip my throat out. I also wanted to run away, but for some reason when the wolf looked at me I couldnt move a single muscle in my body. I really didn't want to be harmed by such a creature like this, but then when I looked at the wolfs size I somehow knew that he was the leader of his pack. I also knew that he was only trying to protect his pack because of how his growl sounded. Problem being that when I was able to move I started to walk backwards as slowly as I could, but not knowing that wolves are one of the smartest animals in the forest, which is their favorite territory and their very familiarized with the terrain. Once I thought that I was far enough back from the wolfs sight, I bolted in the opposite direction that I shouldve, but with adrenaline rushing through my body I wasnt thinking properly, so I ended up deeper within the forests grasp. When I had started to run I didnt look back to see if the wolf was following, but I did slow down to a steady walk and started to wonder if Blaz was finished counting and was on his way to find me. I also wondered if the wolf had maybe chased after me and I wondered what time it was right now. When I looked up through the treetops I saw the sun at the 10 am mark in the sky. I then looked back down to the pathway that I had been running on and sighed as I was starting to get worried for Blaz, I didnt know if he was on his way to find me and I didnt really want to be in this forest for much longer with that wolf and his pack.
