Maxwell's POV
I look back at my team to check on their current state. Some of us were knocked out unconscious and slammed into the walls of the buildings from the battle that felt like weeks. After looking at the destruction shown upon the rising sun, I look back at my father who laid unconscious after the long battle. I sat there, contemplating what I have been doing for what felt like an eternity. Afterwards, I got up and limped over to the body of my father and watched the darkness leave his body. I spoke in a scratchy voice but was recognizable, "dad...." I had managed to say and collapsed next to him looking up at the sky.
After a long while of silence, my father coughed and spoke, "Maxwell...?" and I heard him get up slowly. I had lost the energy to say anything else, but I managed to get up nonetheless. I sluggishly got up and looked at him, then hugged him without a seconds thought, "dad...I missed you..." I said to him with tears trailing down my face.
He embraced me in a hug and said in a deep and raspy voice, "don't worry son, I'm here now..." he gave me a smile and ruffled my hair, "good to see you Max...where is your team? Where is your mother?" he asked me as I looked back at my unconscious teammates then off at the distance.
I tried to remember what happened to my mother until I had got a call on my E-Gear (like a watch that is a phone) and picked it up, "Maxwell, how are things on the surface?" Jack said from the call. "We're here Jack, dad seemed to recover from the shadow corruption" I told him as I regained my energy and strength.
Jack had said he was coming in on a cargo-ship to the surface and that he wanted to have the others ready for retrieval. Slowly my team woke up and gathered around me in awe, "whoa is that the legendary Ice Warrior?" Tony asked, dusting himself off of dirt, "why yes I am young one, and you are?" my dad responded with a polite manner, "the name's Tony, Wrathful Beserker is my title" Tony said proudly as my dad looked over at Rochev.
He gave a light smile, "you my boy are?" he asked him. Rochev seemed to figit a slight bit before answering, "my name is Rochev sir, The Frostbitten Bounty Hunter is my title" he said barely, but enough for us to hear.
My father nodded and looked at Simmy, the daughter of his friend, "Simmy, you've grown, child" my dad said giving her a smile. She had gave a small smile and blushed a little, which was a little odd but I assumed it was her mood swings, "yes, and my title is Earth's Guardian" then she clung onto Rochev's sleeve.
He then looked at Asuna, who was cleaning out her wings, "you are miss?" he said getting her attention. She yelped slightly and looked at him, "oh I'm sorry sir, Asuna is my name and my title is The Guardian Angel" she said giving him a smile.
He glanced at me for a second before turning to Chloe, "so you're the one who took my boy's heart" he said with a chuckle, which made she and I blush a little. She looked at me then back at my father, "yes sir, I have been with him all my life and I had made up my mind and had said that he was the one I wanted my heart to belong to" she said looking at me with a smile, "and you're the daughter of Jack correct?" he asked her. She had looked at him for a second then thought, "yes sir, and you were the friend of my father yes?" she answered then asked him in a slight stern way. My father pat my head before answering "yes I am, aren't you the Earthbound Lightning bolt?" he said throwing another question at her. She nodded and walked up to me, giving me a hug.
After my team spoke their questions, Jack had arrived in the cargoship. When he arrived we heard a familier feminine voice from behind us, which got the attention of everyone "m-mom!" I said in joy and ran to her as she hugged me. I had more tears trail down to my cheeks as my father placed a hand on my shoulder, "hey hun, good to have you back" he said kissing her cheek. I looked up at them, the two I had lost at the age of five, now standing before me at the same age as when I had lost them. My mom pinched my cheeks and kissed my forehead, "look at how much you've grown Maxwell, sixteen..." she said at the brink of tears, and hugged me tightly.
The others watched in more awe and ran up to us asking my mother questions as Jack walked over to us, "ahem, we are releasing the drones given to us by the religious idols and repair the surface" Jack said sternly, then looked at my father, "Nicholas and Julia...It is good to have you both back" he said fixing his glasses and smiled. We watched the drones fly off as Jack ushered us onto the cargo-ship, "we need to let the drones work and get The World ready to come up to the surface" and with that, we knew our work wasn't through.
8 YEARS LATER
Eight years have past and Elemental Overdrive had departed to their separate ways. No one kept in touch, and we each left in pairs of lovers. Tony with Asuna, Rochev with Simmy, and Chloe came with me. We married at the age of twenty-two, then had a child two years after. It was a girl that we had named Roxy, as we took care of her carefully as she had four elements in her body and soul. As for Jack and my parents, they lived in the laboratory. Jack had made their weapons to be used by the two remaining Legendary Warriors, until something devastating happened. We had an infection that spread like a plague turning anyone infected into zombie-like creatures, and we had lost Jack from this. My parents and Chloe went missing a week after this incident, as I was trapped in the laboratory with my five year old daughter. I was going mad from the lost of my parents (again) and my own wife. So what I had done was put Roxy in a bomb shelter and an drone that would take care of her for ten years, a radio, ten years worth of food, and the weapons that were to be used by my parents.
I left the area as my darkness began to consume me, "you thought we were done, heh...good try though" a voice that sounded like my father's had said. I walked around town as the destruction went off, "like your father, I'll take you out of your will" he said with a laugh, "you've already given up right? Let me help you gain the strength needed to keep going" he said as the words seemed to turn into darkness itself, and consume my entire body while trapping me inside a dark space which was in my mind, where I were to lay forever. I just sat and watched as my world faded and my will taken over. I gave him only one wish, "don't harm her". He vowed not to, but he only agreed to not do it for a little while. He chuckled and finally devoured my soul.
