As on occasion, I flicked through my photo album that contained every memory since I was a kid. Going through pleasantly until the door bell went. My mom called me from the bottom of the stairs in which, I ignored. That's when my bedroom door creaked open and there stood a familiar face.
"Hey," she whispered. "I was hoping I'd bump into you in the cafe, but I never did..."
"How'd ya find my house?" I asked, closing the photo album, whilst preparing to get to my feet.
"I have contacts," she grinned.
"Ah okay," I looked back down at the carpet.
"So, what you up to then?" She awkwardly questioned, pressing her hands deeper into her skinny jean pockets.
"Not a lot to be fair," I replied. I sat back down on the carpet when she joined me.
"So, who is this?" She asked, turning onto the first page. I went completely and utterly silent when I glared down at the young lad, stood happily in his military uniform. His long, curly blonde hair and his royal blue eyes facing the camera. His fully packed duffle bag and his oversized military jacket almost two sizes too big... He was a good lad... And most of all, he was a good brother... "Drew?" Ria waved her hand in front of my eyes.
"Sorry," I snapped out of my thoughts. "He was my brother..."
"You never mentioned a brother...?"
"You never asked."
"So, what happened?"
"He died..." I bluntly replied.
"I'm so sorry-"
"Don't apologize..." I paused. "He went into the army back in Miami and he got killed. No-one really knows exactly how... But we moved here..."
"If there is anything that I can do to help-"
"He's already dead... There's nothing any of us can do I guess," I tried to smile it off.
"You know where I am if-"
"Thanks but no thanks..."
Later on that day, we decided to go shopping. We waited just under 5 minutes for the bus which I paid for myself and Ria. We sat at the back and watched the traffic out of the window.
"Are you okay?" She whispered from beside me.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" I smirked.
Soon later, we arrived outside the City Centre in which we strolled through the large glass doors.
"So, why are we here?" I asked.
"I just thought we should hang... I haven't seen you for a week..." She replied.
"So, you did wanna date after all? I mean, I'm younger than you..." I joked.
"And who said I wanted to date you?"
"You are practically saying that you can't live without me... That's like so adorable..." I winked. She pushed me gently.
"Whatever." She mumbled.
"What did you say? You did miss me? See, I'm a mind-reader..." I went on joking.
"You're one crazy guy..."
"That's what they all say..." I smirked.
"So now, you have the girls queuing...?"
"Absolutely..." I paused. "Not."
"Okay- okay... So, why don't I give you a fashion tip...?" She suggested.
"Go on..." I fluttered my eyelashes.
