...
Riley. Riley. Riley. That single word, name, noun, has been flying through my head for hours. I can't let my grades fall, and that means I can't stop helping her with Charlie.
I can't let all these things fall because I wasn't always the way I am now, before I came here, my mother starting leaving and coming back. I couldn't take the stress of not knowing if she's ever coming back, and if she will but won't even say hi. I became a, well, "bad boy" and treated everyone like crap.
When I moved to John Quincy Adams High School, I saw the light and realized I don't need to be that guy anymore. What I'm saying is, Riley deserves the guy who is truthful, and I can't say he isn't because he is one of my best friends. I don't deserve her.
I couldn't help but think that some bad parts of me will come out, the truth will unfold and things won't be okay.
I walk through Riley's bay window, we sit here a lot. She told me that it's her and Maya's special spot, it's nice that she shares it with me.
"Hi." I say, closing the window doors behind me. "Hey Lucas!" She smiles brighter than the sun. "How was your date with Charlie?"
Oh right, she had her stupid little date with Charlie Gardner last night, did I mention he's my best friend? Next to Zay of course.
"It was nice."
"Nice?" I ask, even I knew Charlie's charm would get more than just "nice".
"I really enjoyed the date, but I was kinda hoping he'd, well kiss me." I open my mouth to say something, but nothing comes out.
"Oh." I finally manage out, the date was great, she just wanted a kiss. That means under our deal I need to do everything to get him to kiss her. Great.
"So anyway want to get started on some four fathers?" She asks gleefully. I smile and nod.
Never would I have thought a girl would have this effect on me, I'm Lucas Friar, the old bad boy and new athlete. Not falling over a girl, whose not even falling for him back.
I was watching this show on Netflix with Riley, it's called "One Tree Hill." There was this bad guy well kinda, named Nathan and this innocent tutor girl named Haley. She tutored him and made him not so bad, they got married and had kids, he was a basketball player and she was a singer/teacher. She didn't like him at first, till she did.
I want that, I want Riley to help me fix my past, and she's already tutoring me for my future, which I really hope is with her.
But I don't deserve that, or her.
-------------
"Hey Lucas!" She yells, I walk up to the beautiful girl's locker.
"Yes?" I drag on.
"Let me tell you about my date with Charlie."
Right. Her date. With Charlie. Great.
"What happened?" I ask, that was probably the worst question I had ever asked let alone thought of in my entire life. Why? Because for the next 39 minutes of history, she whispered to me the magical-ness of her date with my best friend.
Than I did something, at the 40th minute I walked out of the classroom.
