I sent Lucas to the store to buy some bottles of paint. While he was gone I started to set up what I was teaching him today.

I took a dirty sheet, tape and old makeup brushes. I set it up so the sheet was up against a wall, obviously help up by the tape, I just placed the brushes on my desk.

I got out my computer and searched up a picture of the world map, because Lucas was studying world geography. I made sure the computer was slightly far from the sheet, knowing it would get paint all over it.

"I'm back!" I hear coming from the living room, I quickly rush over and grab the paints from a confused Lucas. "So what are we doing with this paint anyway?" He asks, I lightly laugh and just guide him to where I set up the sheet and computer. I stood by the giant canvas, "I want you to draw the world. You have to throw paint at each continent and each continent will be a different color." He obeys my directions and opens the paint bottles. He splatters some red paint on the sheet. "Good!" I say, "keep doing that." Lucas smiles, "Okay." He takes a different color of paint, I wore an old, long shirt to keep clean, clearly he noticed because next thing I know blue paint is all over me.

"Lucas!" I scream, "your gonna get it!" I take another bottle of paint, green and splatter it all over his face. Then I take my hand and softly blend it in. "Perfect, you could be twins with Shrek!" I laugh, he grabs my green hand and puts it on my face. "That's what you get Matthew." Lucas replies with a big smirk plastered on his face. He grabs the blue bottle of paint and draws out North America. "There." He begins "But why only let the sheet look colorful?" Blue paint is now all over my face, "I think blue is you color." We both laugh histericaly.

"Ha!" I giggle at the joke he made, Lucas is now sitting on the floor and I'm standing above him. I take the green paint and squirt it all over his head. "I win!" I declare but he rejects my rule, "Nope." He says slowly standing up, "I win." Lucas takes the purple paint in his right hand, and lightly grips my waist in his left hand. Within a blink I'm over he shoulder and he's squirting the paint all over me.

We sat back down and laughed at his victory, I felt okay. Like I don't need to prove myself to him.

"Tell you what." I begin to say, causing him to turn his face in my direction. "What?" He questioned me. "You need to promise me something." Lucas and I have become good friends, I'm not letting that go. "What?" He repeated.

"You need to promise me to be my best friend, I'd do anything for my friends and I'd like for you to be one." I say.

"Of course." He says, and I engulf him in a hug, paint and all.

"Best friends." Friends. There was something weird and kinda bad about that word, and I don't know what it is.

I shrug off this weird feeling. Your helping her get the guy. I think to myself. That guy, is not you.

"Hey Lucas." Charlie says coming up behind me, I'm at my house, but he's been here for a while. "Hey." I reply softly.

"What do you think about Riley Matthews?"

"What?" I say confused as ever. "Riley Matthews." He begins "What's your opinion on her?" I don't know why I asked twice, maybe I was just taken back by his sudden interest in "my best friend."

"She's really nice, we're good friends." I tell him, why is he asking anyway? Not that I care. "Good." His voice trails off.

"I might ask her out." Suddenly my breathing turns heavy and I don't know why. This was the deal, you want this. I tell myself.

"That's cool, why though." I ask, hoping he won't notice my heavy breaths. "She's cute, we hung out a little while ago while playing football, it was nice. I figured why not try." I give him a warm smile.

He tells me that he'll ask her this Wednesday, it's Sunday. The thought of Charlie and Riley dating seriously bothered me for some reason, and I don't know why. But I can't let it get to me, cause it's all part of the deal.

Today is Wednesday, the day that Charlie is asking Riley out. Thought Lucas, he already knew Charlie's "amazing" plan. And he was not excited for it.

Riley on the other hand, was having a great day, and couldn't wait to see what would happen next.

She walked innocently into the big hallway, along with her best friend, not expecting anything interesting to happen to her. But sure enough, something did.

"Riley Matthews!" She heard and turned to see wear it was coming from. It was Charlie.

"Will you-"

"Yes!"

"Go out-"

"Yes!"

"With me?"

"Yes!" Riley screamed as she took the beautiful flowers he had given her. People started clapping, Lucas stood by watching every second of it. And every second of watching Riley with someone else hurt him so much.

It was like knives were constantly stabbing his heart.

He didn't know why.

And then he did.

Lucas Friar.
