Ari's P.O.V.
(Shoutout to SubaruKunNoLikey for supporting this book from the very start~)"I'm being what?!" I cried drastically, flailing my arms about in the air to make a point as Daisuke, the grumpy old nurse-guy-or-whatever narrowed his eyes and me and 'hrmph'ed.
"Darn, you're noisy, kid." The blonde muttered grouchily and now it was my turn to narrow my different colored orbs in annoyance. "You're being adopted. Do I need to spell it out for ya'?"
"A-D-O-P-T-E-D." He added as if I were stupid as I huffed, clearing irritated, an irk mark appearing on my forehead.
"Yeah, I get that, but I don't need adopting! I have a family." I stated coldly, and the man's eyes seemed to soften as he heard my words for a moment, before they hardened and once again he was glaring daggers at me.
"Whatever, kid. Suit yourself and believe what you want." Was Daisuke's curt retort. Rolling my eyes, I sat up, pushing away the tray of food that he'd placed before me in disgust as I eyed it for the first time. "And there's no way I'm eating this!" Muttering under his breath, the forty year old stood up and made his way over to my bedside, snatching the plate out of hands and slamming it down on the nightstand beside me.
"Then starve!" He barked angrily before whirling around and marching out the door, slamming it closed behind him. As realization of what I'd just done settled over me, I eyed the food and forced the bile back down my throat as I shakily reached out to take a forkful. Now, I know what your thinking- (Me: STAPH IT, ARI, YOUR BREAKING THE FORTH WALL!!) (Oh, quit your worrying, Author-chan. I'm fine. Anyways, as I was saying...)
Now, your probably thinking: "oh! There are people in Africa who don't have food, so your a bad person for letting it go to waste!" Well, excuuuse me, for being a vegetarian! T^T
The tray was divided up into sections. One small portion has about a couple spoonfuls of porridge, another had some carrots that had been chopped up into an almost unidentifiable substance- heated up and then cooled down- and a thin slice of meat. Eventually I managed to force myself to eat the carrots and the porridge was actually pretty good, but I couldn't bring myself to eat the meat. I had always been a strict vegetarian, and I didn't plan on changing that part of me Any. Time. Soon.
Anyways... Back to what Daisuke and I were arguing about. Su I wanna go home but apparently my house burnt down but, hey, what kid just believes their house just burnt down when some stranger- especially someone like Daisuke- is the one who tells you? Not this 'kid'. (A/N: I apologize for my lack of professionalism here, but for the rest of this chapter I'm going to make it like Ari is writing it so she adds all these text faces and such. NOW ON WITH THE STORY ^w^) (Dang it, Author-chan, stop taking up valuable space in my chapter! Darn 'fourth-wall' crap...)
Like hell I'm just going to accept the fact my parents are dead! "I swear, I've been stuffed into a mental asylum- these people are all crazy!" Muttering the thought aloud, I finally finish up the rest of my meal, stuffing the leftover scrap of meat in my pocket and hurrying across the room, grabbing some clothes the doctor had laid out for me. They looked like something of Ema's, but then again, that girl is always shopping at the stores where you can get cute, girly stuff, so it was probably just a coincidence. I held up the outfit, gazing at it distastefully, but there was absolutely no way I was wearing this hospital gown out into the hallways. For some reason, they don't give you any underpants, and the back is completely see through- in fact, there is no back! A thin piece of string holds it together. I mean, eww, I really am in an asylum.
