One Week Later...
Friday, February 8th
A week has passed since the party. Since then, people have been in a chill state. The mundane negative energy Jah always recieved had been converted into positive. After seeing Jah let her freak flag fly, people are more open to her; saying hi to her whenever they see her and being ultimately nice to her.
Despite the positive vibes, Jah was kind of miserable. Being in this "thing" with Jacob was really starting to blow. Whenever Jacob was around the Victor Brothers, he would completely air her existence and ignore her. He made it seem as if he was the one wore the pants—and the whole closet—in the relationship. It was turning Jah off completely; so bad to where she was seriously starting to dislike being "his". Let's not forget that, that one dream she had about Chresanto became a recurring one. The dreams were beginning to get her in her feelings so much, that half the time she was with Jacob, she was thinking about Chresanto.
Chresanto, on the other hand, fell back some. He still made advances at Jah, but they weren't as strong. They were more of a tease rather than a flirt. Instead, he observes. He knew she was annoyed with Jacob and ready to drop it. He had already made plans for when the time came. He wasn't going to swoop in; he was going let it flow. It was only so long before Jah would be in his arms.
As for Sapphira, her plan was going well. Ambrose was making all of the right moves and getting Sapphira on cue to catch them "slipping". Saph hadn't paid Ambrose just yet, but she more than certain that she would. All she had to do was get that money out of her mother's account.
In perfect timing, the Valentine's Day dance was coming up in less than a week. It was anyone's game. Valentine's Day could turn out in heartbreak or something new. If there's someone you like, you better snag him or her before the next person does. In addition to getting a date, there's the Title of Venus, which is the Mercy Hall version of prom queen for its Valentine dances. Many want to be Venus, but only one could be her. And when it comes to gaining the title, girls get catty.

- Chresanto.
I watched as bevies of girls from each grade stood crowded around the bulletin board, signing their names up for the Title of Venus. I shook my head and chortled. I didn't understand the hype of being Venus; all you end up getting is that stupid ass title, a bouquet of flowers, and a fake diamond crown. It wasn't worth getting pissy and petty about, but I guess I can only talk because I'm a guy.
I picked up one of Valentine's Day dance fliers from off of the ground and read its contents:
23rd Annual Mercy Hall Valentine's Day Dance
Thursday February 14th @ 8 PM In The Gym
Dress to impress, bring that special someone, and Turn Up!
Food, Music by our very own Diamond Schenectady aka DJ D-Steelz, and more!
VOTE FOR THE TITLE OF VENUS! WHO'LL WIN?
Be there or be square!
I shrugged nonchalantly and slid the flier into my binder. I was definitely going to be there, but I just had to find a date. Again I wasn't going to be Jah's date. Instead of bitching and moaning about it, I just had to take the L and find someone else who'd be willing to go. I definitely did not want to take Melissa again for two reasons: one I didn't want to lead her on; two, I won't be able to tolerate hearing her talk about something I can give negative five fucks about. It's all good, though. It should be easy to find someone to go with, with this face of mine. I was attractive enough to snatch somebody off the market.
