Beyond My Reach

Last night felt like a dream, it was so magical.  I shook my head as I looked at the teacher trying to concentrate.  I looked at the seat and noticed Hana was not there, but I should've expected that because she is sick and needs to be cared by a doctor.

I looked back to the board and then the suddenly the door slammed open.  Everybody looked at the entrance and saw Hana, whose hair was a mess and you saw her sweat, dripping down her forehead.

"I am sorry I am late!" She smiles and scratches the back of her head. The teacher nods , she smiled and skipped her way past me and my eyes are wide opened, shocked that she came to school. Tamaki smiles and nudges me and I grew a vein on my head.

"Tamaki will you please stop trying to put me with Ms.Suzuki." Tamaki pouted and nods, I saw the girls fangirling over his pout. I sighed as I began writing notes, ignoring the squeals of the fangirls and the teacher yelling at them.  I looked from the corner of my eye to see Hana giggling.

The Host Club was meeting in the rose garden for a commoner's game and the newspaper club was going to be there. Of course I know they are trying to ruin us or at least Tamaki, I just needed some evidence. So of course I planted a bug inside the medical kit.

We were all in a line as Tamaki was turned around saying " The Daruma doll fell over!" and we began to move. As  soon as he stopped we all froze. I looked at Hana who was trying hard not to laugh at Tamaki yelling at the twins,  she was quite close to Kaoru. At that I tried not to frown, and then we continued to play the game.

We all were packing up and I saw Hana run up to Kaoru as he smiled warmly. She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear as she began to walk out of the club room with Kaoru. Her arms were linked with his and I saw them joke around as she was swinging her violin case. I walked up to them, not knowing why.

"Are you not supposed to be in the hospital?" She looked at me and shook her head as I was feeling regret for asking such a dumb question.

"Nope! They let me out early!" I saw Kaoru glare at me almost as if he was angry with me. I pushed my glasses which glared and then they walked by me.

It was as if this moment was in slow motion, the three of us passed each other, with Kaoru on my left and Hana on my right. My eyes widen, it felt as if this was the last moment of our relationship  ever being the same. Her hair passed me and I turned around seeing her and Kaoru running down the hallway. It felt as if I was stuck here in this spot forever, watching everything fly by me and not letting me move to do something about it. The hallways suddenly grew a lot colder and the farther those two ran, the further the color and life of this place left with them.  Leaving me in utter darkness and no life in this hallway.

I stood there for two minutes and I frowned. Knowing I had no chance of getting her any more. I gulped my sorrow in and cleaned up the club room. As I was exiting I looked at the wall where she was last night and I closed the door. I walked away with out looking back, finally knowing my place in her life and maybe my own life.

I walked outside on the courtyard and looked up. The stars were not shining, not even twinkling. The most peculiar thing, was that I saw a white dove flying but it was closer than before and it flew away.

I shook my head even more and saw the cat again, but further way from the dove than last time. I rubbed my eyes. I must be exhausted. I should get some more sleep. I entered the limo and it began to drive. Instead of usually being on my laptop, I looked outside and saw an old park. It was run down, no kid should be playing on that play ground.

My eyes snapped open as I saw Hana on the swings alone. She looked like she was humming to herself looking up to the sky with a sad smile. I told the driver to stop the car and he did. I looked a little longer and saw her wipe up tears from her eyes.  I got out of the limo, walked behind her and put my blazer on head, scaring her.

"Ms. Suzuki it is quite late. Why are you out here? Should you not be home now?" She smiled softly and nodded.

"I love this park! I used to come here all the time when I was a little kid! It is just so sad to see it abandoned! This place was full of life!" I looked around.

"But there is life here, you are the life here Ms. Suzuki."  Her eyes widen and her smile widened and she jumped of the swing and stood up.  She pointed the sky.

"I will go there some day! I will reach the sky!"

"I guarantee you will Ms.Suzuki..."  She grabs her case and her bag.

"My home is not far! I am going to walk!" I knew she couldn't go alone so I asked the driver to meet me at her house and we began our journey.

There was comfortable silence hanging in the air. The stars suddenly came back to life and they shined brightly, even brighter than before.

"Kyoya...If you could reincarnate as anything you want, what would you be?" I looked at her and gave her a questioning look.

"I am not sure, what would you be?' She smiled and stopped. She looks to the sky.

"I would be a star, so I can shine down and give people happiness as they look at me! To make people believe in wishes! To see the universe!"

"What if you could not be a star?"

"Then I would be a cherry blossom tree, dead in the winter but as soon as it is spring I would come to life! Giving people happiness of seeing life and to see beauty in the world!" She smiled and started to walk past me. I looked at the stars again and looked at her again. Knowing that she is beyond this world and beyond my reach.
