7:00 am
Practice starts at 7:10 and my father isn't even ready to go. He likes to be late to everything, whereas I hate being late. It pisses me the fuck off! But anyway :)
I'm so tired. Track is kicking my ass, especially Coach Strong, one of the head coaches of Denver high school.Coach Strong is a good coach but he excepts me to be an amazing track star when I'm only a sophomore in high school.
"Let's go Jenny" my dad shouted at 7:03 am.
We walked to the garage. And drove to My school track.7:12 am
When I got there, everyone was already doing there warm up laps. Being late is super annoying. Coach Amy thinks she rules the place but no the hell she doesn't. I have a class with her in school also. She ties everything to track. For example, if I'm bad in her class she'll make me run in practice.
"Jennifer you owe me for being late!" Coach Amy yelled
'Here we go again!' I thought
"Yes ma'am." I said walking over to my team to stretch."Hey Jen." My bestfriend, more like sister, Marissa said happily
"Hey Marissa."
"I see coach Amy being a bitch again." She said
"That's nothing new." We laughed
7:20 am
Coach Jared, another the head coach, came in after we finished stretching and warming up. He is the coach for track and cross country.
"Ok listen up!", he yelled, "200 group, you have (4) 150 m, and then (5) 100m on the football field. 400 group you have (5) 300m at 85%, and then (2) 100 m on the football field. And last but not least, 800 group, you have (2) 300m at 50%, (3) 400m at 75%, (5) 800m at 90%. 200 group is with coach Amy, 400 group is with coach ski and 800 group is with me." He said smilingHe recently put me in the 800 group. I run 200 and 400 s not 800 s.
I don't want to run that much.
"800 group over here. That's gonna be Lindsey, Abby, and Ms. Jennifer" coach Jared said
"Coach Jared do I really have to be in the 800 group?" I asked
"Yes you do." He answer
"Ready go!" We started our 300sA 300 is 100 meters less than a 400. A 400 is one lap around the track.
"59.......60........61........62.........63....." Coach Jared yelled out times
Lindsey finished at 60.
Abby finished at 62.
And I finished at 66.Lindsey and Abby are varsity. I'm jv and he expects me to keep up with them. I understand having a bigger expectation is good but not when you get in trouble if you don't make your times.
"Jennifer, you need to be at a 60!" Coach yelled at me from across the field
We walked a 100 then started the 300 again. This time was worse.
"64.......65.......66........67.........68........69.........70" coach yelled
Lindsey ran a 65
Abby ran a 68
And I ran a 70If you don't run track you don't understand how bad a 70 is for a 300.
I ran 400's which is a whole lap in 60 seconds and I can't even make my time for a 300."Oooo you're in for it now Jen." Lindsey said
Lindsey is a senior. She's on varsity track. She is super fast but in practice she doesn't really try. Coach understands why. She has a heart condition.
Abby is a sophomore like me. Abby runs the varsity 4x4 but she's a jv runner. She likes to sprint 2 miles. I'm not up there with that yet.
Then there's me I'm a sophomore like Abby. I run jv everything because I'm not fast even to run varsity, which I like to think, but coach Jared thinks otherwise. I ran cross country for the first time this year and I was actually pretty good at it. My fastest 5k was 22:11 and I won second place. But in track it's different I went through basketball which got me so out of shape and then I had to go to track. Like what the hell!
