I didn’t say anything just keep looking at the face that looked just looked like my dad’s. He kept looking into my eyes, his eyes green eyes looking alive and healthy.
“You look so different, so grown up.” He said after awhile. Something in my heart told me this was my real father, here alive and present. Well, that just means my dreams can be convincing.
“You don’t.” I said. He really looked like nothing changed, even a piece of hair that always stuck out was their.
“You came into one of our worlds, now I can fully see you.”He said stilling looked at me.
“Now, I can fully show myself too you.”He said. On the middle of the walls flames light up. The flames spread all around the room which was huge. It was a really huge basement. There were boxes on one side.
I looked back at him. I could see his skin wasn’t as tan as before. He took of his jacket and soon after I hear skin ripping and bones cracking.
My breath caught in my throat as two huge black wings emerged. They looked like the pits of black holes them selves. They seemed to keep growing out until finally it stopped and they staid still in the air. They did not shine; it seemed as if the wings consumed the light.
“Beautiful aren’t they?” He said extending one hand out to one of his wings. His fingers went in the feathers. He looked back at me and smiled.
“Now, how about you show me your own?” He said folding his wings back. They still couldn’t be covered behind him.
“What do you mean?” I asked, looking away from his wings.
“You have your own wings.”He simply said. I remembered what happened last night and how much pain I was in, and how afterward I saw wings.
“I don’t have any.” I said lying. I just didn’t want the pain to come back. I noticed how in my dream my back wasn’t hurting.
“Yes, you do.” He said. He gave me a gentle smile. I didn’t even know how to bring them out, I took a shaky breath.
“I don’t know how.” I said helplessly. He chuckled and came closer to me. He was right in front of me and he pointed at my heart.
“You have to feel them, like they are apart of you.” He said. I took in his words, and repeated them in my head. I listened to my heart beat and steadied it. I listened to my heart beating and took that noise as how my wings would have made if they were out. I felt my back press into me like something was on top of me. Then quickly it was gone and I heard the soft noise of my heart beat. I felt warm and alive.
I looked back to see white wings that shined to no extent. The sound they made copied my heart beat, and it was a lovely sound that could have easily make me go to sleep. I looked in front of me, to my dad.
He was smiling so brightly that it shocked me. His arms went around me bringing me into his chest. I could feel and hear his heart beat. Blood pumping in his veins that clearly showed he was alive. For a moment I relaxed into his arms ignoring that he was only part of my dream.
“I knew you could easily do it.” He said releasing me. He took a step back and pressed his hands together behind him. “Now, we could skip a step since flying comes easily, like second nature.” He said and brought in his wings.
“Put them back in.” He said.
I brought to my mind like how my hand would open and close. I could feel them close in and go in, he was right it’s like any other part of my body. My brain thinks it, and it happens.
He nodded and went over to a brown box; he opened it up and took out a red box.
“I want you to know how to fight.”He said. My mind went blank, he wanted what?
“I’m going to train you.”He said, smiling white teeth at me. It was a smile I couldn’t help but smile back. I felt like I was really with my father.
“In, this so called dream, well everything in here is real. So, while you’re in here training out there, out side of your mind, you’re sleeping and healing.” He said.
Did he just say, everything in here is real? Does that mean he is alive? How can that be?
“Does that mean you’re alive, in the real world?” I asked.
He nodded and looked down sad. “I am. I faked my death, for you and your mom’s safety.” He said.
Instead of going over board mad, like I sort of did with Carolina and Lily, I was happy. My father who I love so much isn’t dead and really is alive. I found my self smiling; he looked up at me shocked. It quickly vanished and he smiled back.
“This doesn’t mean I’m completely happy with you, you left me with out a dad for years.” I said. He nodded and said. “I’m trying to make up for here.”
He came closer and handed out the red box to me. I looked down at it inspecting it before grabbing it out of his hands. I looked up at him.
“Open it up.” He said. I did as he said and opened it up to see, a knife. He wasn’t joking about teaching me how to fight.
“A. knife.” I said. He shocked his head a ‘yes’ and took two steps backward.
“Attack me.”He said. I laughed and covered my mouth as I did.
“What?” I said.
“Attack me with the knife.” He said. I looked at him like he was crazy, I felt like I was in this situation before.
“No.” I said suborn. I wasn’t going to attack my father, even if it is a dream.
“The I’ll come at you.” He said. I froze he was going to attack me? The next thing I knew he was right in front of me, the knife that was in the box in his hand. The blade was right under my chin. I could feel my heart beating faster, wanting me to do something. Wanting to fight for my life.
