Huang Zitao or simply Tao was born in Qingdao, Shandong, China on May 2nd 1993. Due to his mischievous nature as a child, His father placed him in martial arts training at the age of 5. He learned Wushu and was also a student athlete during his school years.
On December 27, 2011 he was formally introduced as the third member of EXO through a teaser that was posted on SM's official channel . Huang made his first television debut at the SBS Gayo Daejeon event on December 29, 2011.
Tao filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment to terminate his contract, the principal cause being due to health reason, mainly the aggravation of the ankle injury sustained at the Idol Star Athletics Championships. During his years as an EXO member Tao sustained many injuries.
