A couple of things start to boil in this chapter. Nothing overly bad, as the angst isn't coming... Yet. >:) Also, pretty much every chapter of this story is going to have some form of maturity (some more than others) so I won't be putting warnings from here on out, except for this one. If you don't like heavy angst, violence, or smut, then I'd advise you to go look for something lighter. :)

Chessy cat - A nickname for the fictional Chesire Cat, one that means "trickster" or "jokester."

We were just approaching Yama's place, when Tanaka suddenly stopped in his tracks. The rest of us turned around to look at him, and he put a hand to his buzzed head in thought. "I just remembered, Daichi wanted me to go lift some things from the market," He said, and Noya blinked his almond colored eyes. "Want me to help you out?" He inquired, and his brother nodded. Normally, if it were just me and Yama walking on back home, I would've been fine with them leaving. But it wasn't just me and Yama, but me, Yama, and Kageyama Tobio. I definitely wasn't too keen on making awkward small talk with him, as I knew Yama would probably just stay silent the whole entire time. I sighed inwardly, casting a pleading glance in Tanaka's direction to see if he got the message.

But, he didn't. I kicked a stone in front of me with the tip of my foot, and it went flying into someone's driveway.

"Will you boys be fine walkin' by yourselves?" Noya asked us, and I rolled my eyes. He didn't really even have to ask. Of course we'd be fine, and we'd surely handle anything that came our way - I think. But would we be fine with just Kageyama? Most certainly not!

"Y-yeah, sure. Go on ahead." I lied, running a hand through my greasy orange tresses. "But won't the fuzz be roaming around that area tonight? Ya'll might get caught." I pushed, trying to lure them back into possibly accompanying us on the rest of the walk home. It wasn't too far, but it was far enough to just walk awkwardly with someone you'd just met. I immediately felt like a dummy after asking that, though, because I remembered how many times Noya and Tanaka had been caught and jailed for a certain period of time. They were so used to it, that it was just a normal event that happened to the both of 'em. Even if Daichi still didn't like 'em getting locked up for lifting, it always happened on an almost regular basis.

"Kid, what's got you so worried? We'll be slick, and even if we do get caught, it'll just be like old times." Tanaka grinned, nudging Noya - who grinned also - in the arm. I sighed, letting the nightly breeze wash through my hair and over my pale skin. "You're right." I muttered, looking to Yamaguchi who seemed as equally as skeptic about them leaving us with Kageyama.

"You kids go on back home, and give Kageyama a room to sleep in. Tell Daichi we'll be back by sunrise." I nodded obediently, and my brothers gave one final wave to us as they hurried back down the street, hollering loudly and whistling shamelessly as they kicked trashcans down and cackled. Now, it was just the three of us, much to mine and Yama's discomfort. Yes, I did in fact say that I would grow to like Kageyama, but I barely knew this guy for Pete's sake!

For at least five minutes - more like five hours - it was complete silence. Not just any old silence, but awkward silence. Though, lucky for us, I'd have to say, if it weren't for the distant jingle of someone playing The Beatles from their house, we would've been in complete, dead, awkward silence. My lips formed into a thin line, as I drug my sneakers over the noisy sheet of small rocks on the sidewalk. I cast a look over to my freckled buddy, who gave me a sympathetic one of his own as he mouthed the words, what do we say? I shrugged, looking over to the new addition who's hands were brought up and folded behind his head of dark hair as he walked, keeping his sharp eyes on the road with his cigar stuck in the corner of his mouth.
