Kaine dove to cover. The footsteps were relatively easy to track, and he knew whoever had came in was not coming towards him. He risked a peek.
The person was standing with his or her back towards him, examining the tanks. He couldn't identify the gender, age, or anything useful. Whoever this person was, he/she was wearing a lab coat and taking notes on the clones growing.
Then, he/she quickly scanned the area around her/him, and went to the corner of the room. There was a small aquarium, about 2 feet long and half a foot tall. Fish filled the tank. Then, she/he did something quite odd.
The scientist cut his or her arm.
He/she let a drop into the tank, and the cut was really more like a prick. The fish immediately reacted. They swirled around in the tank, a floating mass of floured cent scales glinting in the light.
Then the fish changed colors to green.
Immediately, a door opened to the right of the aquarium.
Secret rooms in a secret facility? Why?
He waited 30 seconds, and quickly peeked in.
There was the Tarantula in a cage.
The fuck? How? Why? I was the Tarantula. I... Still am. So what is that doing here?!?!?!
Kaine suddenly realized that he was very, very screwed.
A little known fact about Kaine's mutated other form is that it has an exceptional sense of smell. In fact, it never forgot a scent.
And there was Kaine.
