I grew more suspicious by the minute, but then again I knew I was too tired to think. So after spending several hours trying to push the thoughts out of my head, I eventually drifted off to sleep. The next morning, the sound of my alarm waking me at nine o'clock almost sent me into a psychotic state. 'Argh!' I thought to myself. 'I've barely had any sleep.' A few seconds later I hear a knock at my door. 'Hello? Rebecca? Are you awake?' I knew I had to calm down, otherwise I'd ruin the day before even getting out of bed. 'Yes Melissa, I'm awake. I'll be down stairs in a few.' 'Ok sweetheart, see you then.' I picked my favourite pair of jeans, a grey woolen jumper and my black boots to wear into town today. The breeze outside was chilly and I knew this because I was yet to adjust to the weather here. So instead of going down stairs in the sour mood I was in, I decided to take a shower and freshen up. By the time I finished showering, doing my hair and makeup it was 9:45am which meant I only had 15 minutes to finish breakfast. 'Crap!' I said. I pulled on my boots and ran down stairs. 'I'm so sorry Melissa, I got caught up.' 'No worries at all' she smiled surprisingly. 'What would you like for breakfast this morning?' Instead of being difficult, I settled with a bowl of Special K with orange juice and finished just before 10 o'clock. 'Thank god, we'll still beat the traffic!' Melissa said excitedly. 'We're heading out now darling!' 'Alright, enjoy yourselves.' Tom said as he made his way out of the living room. He looked awful, like he'd gotten as much sleep as I had last night. 'Everything ok?' Melissa asked him. 'Yes, everything's fine.' His eyes then swept over me, up and down, scanning not only what I was wearing, but assessing ever part of my face, arms and legs. I shivered and tugged my coat closer to me. 'Anyway, we'll be off now!' Melissa wrapped her arm in mine and tugged me outside. As I went to close the door behind me Tom's face grew with that exact same expression from last night, as if he was trying to tell me something. I couldn't figure it out now, I had to get going. So I shut the door behind me and watched as he walked to the window and watched us pull out the drive.
