The drive back into town was 45 minutes but thankfully Melissa talked for the majority of it, so time passed quicker then I expected. 'And, I'm going to take to you my favourite shop in town. There we can get you some new clothes, shoes and a backpack to carry your school books and laptop in.' 'Thank you' I said. Trying to distract my mind from Tom's yet again, abnormal behaviour towards me before we left. What was going on with him? And was Melissa disguising this through her kind and caring nature? I was yet to find out. 'What's the local school here like?' I asked trying to bring myself back to reality. 'Well, it's a school of 500-600 children and it's in the centre of town so it's hard to miss.' 'I'd be happy to show you on our way home if you'd like?' 'Yes please' I replied. 'That would be great.' She returned the smile and continued talking until we reached the outskirts of town. My day seemed to pass in a blur, one minute I remember being in the car and the next I'm looking around for the perfect outfit to start my first day on Monday. I feel like settling with something safe and similar to what I was wearing today, so after a hour passed I finally decided on black jeans, another woolen jumper with a white scarf to match and a pair of black boots that are similar to the ones I have but better quality. As for my backpack, I chose a light pink one with a bow tied around the centre from Colette. Once finished shopping for school supplies, Melissa and I grabbed lunch before we headed back home. By this stage it was already 3:30pm and I was about ready to fall asleep. 'You look tired sweetie? Didn't you sleep well last night?' I thought about manipulating the truth and telling her it was just nerves for my first day on Monday, but then I remembered Tom and thought I might be able to get a explanation for his behaviour recently. 'No I didn't, I kept thinking about the look Tom gave me at the table. It look like he was trying to tell me something, but I wasn't sure. Do you know why his being acting so strange lately?' Melissa grew silent, then out of nowhere she turned to face me and in her eyes I saw the same expression Tom had on his face and she replied 'Lacey- Lacey Smith.'
