Chapter 3
I can’t read him like an open book. He’s unreadable. There is no emotion hidden in his eyes and his gestures aren’t really clear. There is no brightness or awe plastered in his face when he sees me, so I couldn’t tell his sentiment towards me. He never looks at me as they way other guys looked at me. I think he doesn’t like me or he’s just good at hiding his emotions.
I hope, wish, and dream it’s the second one.
Even though he never showed interest towards me, he never showed interest in other girls. He probably likes someone. If not me, anybody. You had to like someone, in my opinion. I liked someone, but it didn’t mean I’d actually go out with them.
I want to “make a move” on him. It’s weird, but I want to try. Usually the guy would make the move, but he isn’t making a move! It came to my decision, maybe he wanted me to make the move. Guys like confident girls, right?
My crush on him got worst, I actually stutter when I’m with him! I blush too much and I can’t stop staring at his eyes. I don’t know if he could tell I liked him. A part of me wants him to know, the other part doesn’t.
“Paige,” Xavier called out making my heart beat faster.
I abruptly stopped and twirled around to find him rushing towards me. I stifled a laugh when he bumped into numerous people. He looked so cute, I thought.
“Hey, wait up,” he exclaimed.
“I’m not even moving,” I told him.
He finally reached me, his breaths were heavy. “Man, you can’t wait can you?”
I rolled my eyes. “You are so stupid.”
“At least I’m not the one who’s calling people names,” he pouted. “I mean, who calls people stupid? I never heard you call anyone stupid except me.”
He was so adorable it broke my heart. “I’m sorry. I’m only mean to you, because you’re my friend.”
“What,” he exclaimed in outrage. “I’m your friend! I’m not just your friend.”
My eyes widened in surprise. Did he just day that he wasn’t just my friend? Does he feel something more? I couldn’t understand what was going on. All I was thinking about was when he said he wasn’t just my friend.
“I’m your best friend,” he said correcting me.
My hopes just dropped to the floor. Yes, he is not just my friend, he’s my best friend. Is he blind? Yes, the stupid, blind man. “Yup, you are my best friend.”
“Good,” he said, smiling, his blue eyes shimmering. “I have to get to class. I’ll see you in lunch.”
I nodded, still hurt. “Bye, Xavier,” I said softly. I watched him rushed to his next class which is Geo. Algebra II and World History are the only classes we don’t have together. I liked having classes with him, it made me know a lot him. For instance, he’s actually smart and he wasn’t kidding when he said teachers love him. He is such a kiss up.
"God, Paige,” Jackie whined, interrupting my thoughts. “I can’t believe you are actually making me hang out with this guy. He isn’t cool. Yeah, he looks decent, but he’s freaking weird.”
“Where did you come from,” I asked. I didn’t see her walk towards me and I know she didn’t appear magically.
“I appeared out of thin air,” she exclaimed. “What you think, Paige?” Before I could answer, she continued on. “I walked here, duh!”
